Manveer 1 Posted May 23, 2012 I am now a bandit. I've had to kill an innocent to survive. My story: I had virtually no supplies. All i had was my mak with 5 shots, and i was starving and thirsty. I was in the forest following the coast line, when i read that some people are meeting up in Koma. I head there, and i see a guy looting some body. I sneak up behind him, go on those little elevated walk ways above the train tracks, and pop him 5 times. He went down immediatly, i took all his stuff, and i finally got my bandit skin.Do i feel bad? Of course. This guy, from the chat logs, was a nice person. I immediatly go on chat and tell him that i will help him once he respawns (without telling him that i killed him), but he had rage quit from the server already.I guess im one of you now. (Note, im not green. i've killed loads of bandits, and people in self defence. This was my first cold blood kill.)
Broadside (DayZ) 1 Posted May 23, 2012 At first I tried to avoid outright slaughtering survivors. In fact, I was pretty damn helpful but it got to the point where bandits were not a problem and neither were the zombies. It was the other fucking survivors that batter and abuse the trust you offer in friendship to cross a few streets with an extra pair of eyes at your back. I've actually lost track of how many times it was Survivors who shot me and not bandits. So eventually I became tired of being the one shot at and began being the one who did the shooting and I don't even feel anything any more when I put one of those baseball caps in my iron sights. At least with us bandits, people know where they stand, on the other side of our guns because lets face it, it's a dog eat dog world. Survivors are all just lying scum who cling to the pretence of morality. Welcome to the pack.
Deathstruck 0 Posted May 23, 2012 I've had enough of it as well. Tried playing the "good survivor" for a while, but after getting shot to the back for the 4th time (and loosing my precious M4A3 CCO and 8(!!) magazines) I just said "Fuck this".Hell, now that I am honest with my intentions it's kinda refreshing as well. Of course, I still usually avoid cities and main roads but I am no longer paranoid whenever a survivor enters the room and sees my stuff. I just simpy tear him a new one.Who knows, maybe I've killed a next would-be-backstabber?
fatal (DayZ) 13 Posted May 23, 2012 This story sounds familiar. Yep, being a bandit is the most honest line of work someone could do. I say I shoot survivors and bandits on sight....I shoot them on sight and my integrity is kept intact with my truthfulness.
sveinungchr@gmail.com 11 Posted May 23, 2012 I have also joined the rank of bandits.. tho some what unwillingly..A friend of mine and me was meeting up at the SW airfield. He was in the controll tower already and i was running in from the great debug forrest.. I suddenly spot 3 guys running for the tower befor me.. I warn my buddy that tells them in chat that he was friendly... They run up to the tower before I get there and ends up shooting him in the head with no reply of anykind. In a blood driven frensy i open up on the tower and pick of all 3.One from about 200M the other two form just a few meters in side the tower. They where shooting back but no one hit me so i got 3 murders.. :-( Kinda sad i got my bandit skin but OOO the revenge felt GOOD.... Realy good.Thinker.
WillieStroker 0 Posted May 23, 2012 I've only been killed by a bandit once after a weeks worth of play, I wasn't too annoyed because I was trying to get used to the game but I can see how it would make you angry, especially when you have spent time collecting precious items. The reasons for people going into bandit mode here are reasonable, I guess my only fear is that this will turn into a pure deathmatch game if everyone starts to think this way. One of the special attributes in this mod is the not knowing the intentions of the other player, it judged rightly it could be a blast, otherwise it could result in death. That's exactly what the community felt like when I jumped into the game, if I want that, I'll just play vanilla arma. I keep seeing all these carebears announcing they love to just help people but I've never once in all the hours clocked so far even seen one. Just people yelling 'friendly' in side chat then opening up on anyone in the area. Me and all my friends who play have the same experience on becoming a bandit, all of us are fed up of being capped by random survivors, it's not even for the loot. So we've become a bandit group, sticking together to survive on our journey up north. So far we haven't had a problem with any other bandits after three days of travel, its survivors. Strangelove 0 Posted May 23, 2012 I have been killed by a bandit once, but I have been shot in the back by survivors more times than I can count. Bandit skin, here I come.At least you know where you stand with a bandit. Survivors are complete wildcards.
WillieStroker 0 Posted May 23, 2012 I have to admit though... seeing a bandits mug a survivor in this video did make it look bad-ass:
officer2008 8 Posted May 23, 2012 Using chat to find a survivor is a lazy way of being bandit..... Bad enough you had to kill a guy cuase you wouldnt just crawl to a building and get some food. If ur starving why did you run so far just to pop a innocent man?
