Waiting for character to create. I get in, then wait to create and load 10 min per death! HELP!?!??!

So right now I'm alt tabbed since its been stuck on "waiting for character to create" for 10 minutes. Then I'll see "Loading" for 10 minutes. Then I get in and it plays fine.

Then, when I die, I have the fun of waiting for all that all over again.

My game used to work fine but then after the recent steam patch in the last couple days I've had this problem since.

Can you people please be kind and detailed enough to help me out!??! Please! Great game and I want to enjoy!

I have tried several servers, still checking, but I can't get past the loading screen ever. games running, but I cant esc back to menu, i have to alt tab out and kill the game.
