m1911 vs revolver

as you all probably know the m1911 has been "nerfed" and i was wondering now that happened which would you prefer

the m1911

the revolver

i myself still choose the m1911 because of how quiet it is and it is still a 1 shot kill to the head what would you say ?

The m1911 is useless at the moment, because it is a very inaccurate gun. You won't be shooting anyone in the head with it unless he is standing right in front of you. A G17 for instance, is way better at the moment.

(pre weird unintended arma nerfs) 1911 is much better than the revolver, they are basically the same gun - just 1911 has a faster rate of fire and an extra bullet in the mag.

M1911 is easily the most useful weapon in the game right now. It's relatively quiet, one-shots zombies, and due to a bug it essentially has infinite ammo which frees up inventory space. I like my M9 SD for the more covert operations, but the M1911 is my "every day" weapon of choice. Even when the unlimited ammo bug is fixed, the ammo is still more common than any other type in the game. I can't see any other side arm trumping the M1911 other than the M9 SD, to be honest. And like I said, even then, the M9 SD is really more for "end game" special situations.

Im really getting tired of them nerfing guns because they match real world conditions. A 45 slug to the chest of anyone and you will not be living much longer. Yes, you could come up with some crazy path of entry in the body that wont kill someone, but even so they are not going to be running after taking the round.

The 1911 still kills in 1 shot. Maybe some people have issues on their servers but on updated servers there is NO problem. One bullet = one dead zed.

I used to think this... But I just tried it. It takes 3 shots per zed in the body unless it's a headshot.

Wouldn't a Makarov kill a zombie with a one shot to the head? I've seen much, much more ammunition for Maks than I have for 1911 (not counting the .45 bug).

The Revolver is probably the best common hand gun now in my opinion, still 1 shot kill to body or head and the same noise level as the M1911.

The Makarov has moved up a place from 3rd to 2nd as it's quieter than the M1911, holds 1 more round in the mag, has better aiming, has a faster rate of fire and more ammo spawns. It might take 4 body shots to kill a Zed but there's still a chance it will be 3.

The M1911 has now moved from 1st to 3rd with it being no longer a 1 shot kill to the body.

Here's the break down:-

REVOLVER MAKAROV PM M1911

mag size:- 6 8 7

shots to kill:- Head: 1 Head: 1 Head: 1

Body: 1 Body: 3 - 4 Body: 3

rate of fire:- Slow Fast Moderate

recoil:- High Moderate Moderate

noise:- Moderate Low/Moderate Moderate

A hand gun is more of a close up weapon so I haven't put in effective range, although the revolver wins that as well, why the hell you would be trying to kill a zed from 100 meters with a hand gun is beyond me though.

I was under the impression that both the M1911 and revolver do the same damage.

According to dayzdb.com, they both have been lowered about 2000 damage and are equal.

I rock the M9SD at the moment as since every sidearm is shit, you might as well use the silenced one.

The revolver stays accurate at a longer range, has more accurate and easily read ironsights, and doesn't have a sudden drop in stopping power past 50m.

The M1911 has an extra bullet per reload, a faster rate of fire, and I believe it reloads a bit quicker as well.

I used to prefer the M1911 due to its ROF, but the revolver is a better weapon overall - nerf or no.

According you Dayz wiki the M1911 has been changed to 3 body shot kill but the revolver is still 1 body shot kill, I can't confirm this on the Revolver as I don't have one BUT!!! the m1911 now is 3 body shot kill, which I found out the hard way.

TBH I don't mind the change about the M1911, it's a very common gun which probably as a little OP for a common weapon. They could go 2 ways on it either nerf it a little or make it a lower spawn, they went with the former.

In the past it was one of the first weapons I would look for, but I really shouldn't be coming across a Glock17 and thinking that the M1911 is better.

The revolver has more accuracy, so for me the debate is over. Why should I care if I can rattle off 7 shots very quickly if they won't hit where I aim them.

M1911 and the Revolver are still the two highest damage sidearms available. All others are doing 889 damage per shot, the M1911 and Revolver are doing 1389....still pretty crappy coming down from 4500, but, a small increase on all the others.

What is sadly unfortunate is the PDW, M9, and G17 are far higher milgrade sidearms than the Revolver and M1911 and the Makarov, and...unfortunately they're all as shitty as a Makarov right now.

I wish I could beat people with my flashlight, I'd stick that in my side arm slot for all the good side arms are doing right now.
