Making Small Towns Worth It-Pharmacies

This is a very common situation in DayZ

Player 1 Spawns, Gets Kamenka, respawns, Gets Drakon, respawns, Gets Cherno, plays.

Why? There is next to no loot in most of the small towns. Spend 30 minutes in a town, you will be lucky to get a gun. Spend 30 minutes in cherno, you have an ALICE pack, assault rifle. food, and medicine. Also, they are still fairly dangerous to a new player, not much less so than a city. With respawning being disabled, small towns need to have more enterable buildings to make it so it isn't such a hassle to find good loot. I believe they are fixing that in ARMA 3, and this suggestion is mostly for ARMA 3, since it would require a map adjustment.

IF more enterable buildings are added, people would be able to actually get geared up in a town instead of having to get lucky to get the most basic items. It would make supply stops on the way to an airfield actually productive with ten buildings instead of three or four. Also, each town should have at least a barn in most towns(not sure if this is already the case) so newer spawns have a better chance of finding a weapon.

Another problem is that the only spot to get medical supplies are the cities, namely hospitals. This is just another reason to avoid towns, since they can't supply you with medicine. A solution would be to add a pharmacy building in most towns, stocked with a small amount of morphine, epi-pens, bandages, and painkillers. Blood bags would remain restricted to hospitals. With this, you are no longer screwed if you break a leg in Kamenka, you can just crawl to the pharmacy. It would also give groups or individuals travelling to the military camps a way to resupply.

Of course you are correct. I think a pharmacy spawn would be awesome. Limit it to a certain size town (say put it in the largest 50% of the towns - not cities).

I would also limit it to max 3 loot spawns just to keep the items hard to find and keep the hospitals viable. Problem is there is no building to use, have to re-purpose something for it.

I'm sorry to say, but I have to disagree with you...

I personally try to avoid the large cities due snipers and other "not so friendly" survivors when I don't have a decent gear yer. But I manage to find everything I need elsewhere.

From wherever you spawn, there's always a barn with a starter weapon within 1km and other supplies CAN spawn and be found at any locations.

Medical supplies: beside hospitals, these can be found at medical tents (smaller cities), helicopter crash sites and simple supplies everywhere else.

Weapons: barns and deer stands are a great source for weapons.

Ammo: everywhere!

Food: beside supermarkets, basically everywhere... Not to mention the fact that you can hunt animals, gut them and cook the meat.

General Items: these can be found everywhere, especially at barns.

If you know where to look, you can have decent starter kit within 30 minutes without entering Cherno or Elektro (or any other major city).

Also- some small towns should spawn clothing when more is put into the game. Giving unique items to specific small towns make taking trips to then for those reasons interesting. Some take trips to small towns if they have a super market.. So I'm sure putting at least 1 unique spawn area of loot in a small town would have a huge effect.

Maybe even a gun store in rural towns where shotguns/Cz can spawn.

I am not sure about this one.

I kind of like the fact that i have to risk my life to get those rare medical supplies, by going into a spot that i know to begin with is going to be camped. The not so rare, but desirable ones (painkillers/bandages) can be found in supermarkets.

Last thing we want to do, is to overflood the supplies.

Not everyone will pass up on those small cities. A lot of people, when they are ready to get back on the beach, have already decided in their head, where they would like to go, and what they'd like to do. If i am planning to try to save my body, i will be spawning closest to it. If i intend on getting back to Stary/NWA i will be taking that Kamenka spawn and hauling ass.

Short answer, no sir, i do not like

And a big pink neon flashing sign "Sniper look here! >>>" pointing at the doorway.

Ever question why all the killing in the Cherno/Electro? Because it's easy, because you can be laying on a hill/building, and all you need to do is pull the trigger. You have already zero'd in your shots, you know where to shoot, and how to shoot (e.g. how much to adjust elevation).

Giving something like this, will make it a marshmallow-less campfest right outside the store. Everyone will be trying to get to the store if its that rare, and those with guns already will be defending it. Turning it into intense battle, of course

Painkillers, bandages and even morphine are pretty common spawn in houses. It would be good to have medical camps or a pharmacy in the villages in central/northern Chernarus, but not 50%. There are no hospitals away from the coast, so it would be good to add a camp/hospital to Vybor, and a couple of pharmacies spread out across the other towns. This kind of country would not have a pharmacy in every village, some of them have only a handful of houses!

Small towns just need more stuff period. They are completely useless to be honest. Unless you are literally about to die of hunger/thirst but even then there are always only 3-4 houses IF THAT and a barn.

Agree. Slightly increase medical & military loot in towns.

And why isn't there any loot outside of buildings? Exploring towns is pointless, because every town has the same loot in the same buildings. It's just way too predictable.

Maybe the community could help Rocket out with loot placement?

Though they should have regular medical supply spawns and not the boxes filled with loot that the hospitals have.

A side addition might be sheriff offices (low military yield, inside most smaller towns) and police stations (mid military yield, Cherno, Electro, Berez and Stary ) as alternatives to military bases.

I'd like to see something like a moderate sized police station or two placed in the world (School/ office building with a car park and walls around the sides) with mediocre military yeild. And possibly the rare gun shed/ locker at houses out in the middle of nowhere. It gives more reason for stuff like M16A2s, CZs and Enfields to spawn with lots of ammo in these locations, although they should probably be mid-map. This would probably be a good opportunity to add a less powerful scoped weapon like a Ruger 10/22 as a police rifle.

How about just having medical supplies spawn at town locations/houses, but have a low chance of spawning?? This would incentivize players to check all loot points for equipment and spread out around the map. I think ALL the good stuff should be able to spawn anywhere, just with very low chances. Like let's say NV goggles can spawn at a town village, but have an extremley low chance. Near military points/bases they have a higher chance of spawning. Pretty much like Diablo :)

It would be easier to add in crashed ambulances than dropping in whole new buildings.

I have no problem starting out in Kamenka. I end up having a gun pretty quickly and a store isn't too far from it anyway. Broken legs isn't half as bad as they used to be and I only ever really experience them when I make a major mistake or if a player shoots me.
