Noob question about Backpacks

I found an ALICE Backpack inside a Supermarket, Following a guide in youtube to show how to change from one backpack to another, Everything went cool.

The question is the following:

How is the thing about the slots? I mean, I know the starter backpack has 8 slots, and the ALICE one has 20, but I dont see any increment on my Inventory, Tried to pick up new things and the ones that are already in the backpack get dropped.

Can someone be so nice to explain me how the extra slots of the backpack works?

the back pack is a seperate inventory then the gear one click open bag.

So, the game is designed such that getting stuff out of your back pack is not instantly easy or accessible (since it's in your back pack).

It doesn't matter what your backpack size is - it doesn't affect your inventory slots on your personage in any way. The way the extra slots work is; well, you get extra space inside your new backpack.

Easiest way to see this is to go to a loot pile, push G to open gear, and then double click on your bag to open it up.

Now you have loot pile on the left, and open bag on the right (with all the extra slots).

That moves from loot pile to bag, to go from bag to inventory you just push G when NOT looking at a loot pile, double click your bag and now it is bag--> inventory rather than lootpile--->inventory or in my example loot pile---->Bag.

In your specific example I would mouse wheel the dropped bag and select "open" - then double click MY bag to do a transfer.

Press G.

Click on backpack.

Click open bag. (At the bottom)

Everything to right is in your active inventory. (Ex. < Rifle > 1)This is your pistol mags, bandages, hatchets, toolboxes, knifes, flashligh, food youve picked up recently.

Everything to the left is in the backpack. (Ex. 1 < Rifle > )

To put things in your bag from your active inventory just open it up and click the arrow to the left.

To get things out of your bag click open bag and click the arrow to the right.

If there is a loot area on the ground at you use the scroll wheel to choose gear you can also put things in your bag instead of your inventory.

Go to gear on the loot.

Open bag.

The gear on the ground show up.

Click left to put the desired loot on the ground in your bag.

Click the backpack. It opens it up when you're in a gear screen.

Inventory system is clumsy in Arma2.

The best way to know how many slots you have is to

1. drop something on the groud (or find a loot pile)
   
2. look at it
   
3. scroll mouse to fint GEAR menu item
   
4. your inventory is opened up
   
5. now doubleclick your backpack
   

Now you can see actual representation of you backpack with every slot you have,

Is that a rubberfruit profile pic i see? XD. But ya as everyone else said. It's a seperate inventory, sometimes it does'nt pop up. But as long as the button says close bag the items are gonna go right in your bag.

If you now have a ALICE pack, be carefull, a MAINHAND weapon take 10 Slots, OFFHAND takes 5 slots.

If you Put any stuff in your backbag if its full than the item is gone and u loose it forever. So be carefull.

In my case, i have 2 free slots in my inventory, my backbag is full. If i want to switch my weapon (1 have 2 Mainhand weapons, 1 in backbag, 1in his slot and all magazine in inventory) i have to select the one in my bag and switch it to my inventory
