We need things added that relate to roleplay, not killing.

So, it's the zombie apocalypse, and you're with a group of 5-6 friends, hanging out around your campfire. You've got nothing to do, you have all the weapons you need, and you've got food and supplies for many days. You don't need to scavenge for a while. You need something to do that isn't going around and killing zombies... you need what all basic humans require, by definition; happiness.

Well, what should rocket include? Something to pass the time in game... but what could they possibly add?

Weapon Modifications

That's right, you heard it. I say that they add weapon modifications. You go out, scavenging, and find a military base. You find a silencer and an attachable foregrip. You grab the silencer, check the barrel size (specific for most guns) and attach it to the gun that it fits to. You take the foregrip, and slide it onto the underbarrel of your M4A1.

You find a Red Dot Sight. Same thing.

You find fragmentation rounds that do more damage for your weapon, coming in 1-5 round pairs to make it underpowered; which is how it should be.

Shelter Construction

Build on this one... I think it'd be a cool thing to be able to like... I don't know, barricade doors of homes with metal pieces to call them your own? They can be broken down with hatchets and explosives but keep all zombies out.... et cetera.

The ARMA3 engine (what the standalone will be on with 99% certainty) supports weapon mods, it's coming

I never knew that weapon modifications were not "killing" gameplay mechanics. Those explosive rounds must not be very lethal. And weapon mods have no relation to roleplaying.

No, lol... it's just something different then going out... killing people... it's like, almost a collective thing that becomes a "who can make/get the coolest weapon" thing.

I have thought having something like this would make the game that bit more interesting. Give you some more decisions "oh I found this rare attachment for a gun I don't have, but... I don't have much bag space... do I leave it or take it".

If there were a LOT of modification items that are very specific in terms of how they can be combined would lead to a economy of sorts... a possible plus.

If there were a LOT of modification items that are very specific in terms of how they can be combined would lead to a economy of sorts... a possible plus.

+1. Not a fan of the economy part but I would like to have a large amount of options so that I could have a completely unique gun. I just shudder to think of Day Z getting the TF2 hat treatment.

Why would I pick up additional modifications for a gun or different ammo when I can perfectly kill things without it? Just to show off my kewl gunz? Please elaborate and list benefits / disadvantages. Currently I don't see any of these.

Even if it doesn't make standalone, it'll probably be ported to Arma 3 anyway. All in all, I'm looking forward to it.

@OP - trouble with fortifications is that, given enough time (perhaps a simple logout), you could go through a number of hard-to-gather resources for little to no use at all.

Let me pose a scenario; you gather materials or simply a 'Wooden Barricade' and barricade yourself into a house. You logoff for the night. Given the amount of traffic that the server you're on has, and the popularity of the location, it would be likely that a barricade wouldn't last long at all in the presence of players who are curious, or simply have a destructive streak.

No, this looks alright, I just have a pet peeve about people using silencer over suppressor, there is no such thing as a silencer. :P
