DayZ = Unreal Tournament Deathmatch.

Recommended Posts

Really this game is just Unreal Tournament Deathmatch.

Food and blood packs are just slightly more inconvenient than running over health spawns.

Weapons are just like in Unreal; you learn the map and learn where the good weapon spawns are.

Zombies are just like A.I. bots, inconvenient, but not really a threat.

You spawn in a starter location, and then run to spawns to improve from your starter equipment.

Camo and ghillie suites are similar to power ups like camouflage and invisibility in Unreal.

Sure Unreal is an extremely simplistic Deathmatch game, and doesn’t have the diversity and dynamics of a game like Battlefield, but the same can be said for DayZ. Even the old school Counterstrike mod had a more dynamic and strategic PvP element. Really DayZ is just an extremely slow paced, huge map, deathmatch game. But without the strategy and intensity of FPS games specifically designed to deliver a great deathmatch experience. I just don’t see what the real appeal is.

I got extremely bored of this game a long time ago, and honestly if I was looking for a FPS PvP, DayZ is not the game I’d play. I know, to each their own. I just don’t get it. Though in defence of bandits, griefers, etcetera, I see their point; there isn’t really a whole lot to do once you get some food, drinks, and guns. Once you get geared up, what other options are there in this game? If it’s to stay in the woods and hunt, might as well play Cabalas Big Game Hunter. I don’t want DayZ to turn into WOW, despite its popularity and longevity, but there needs to be something else to do.

Sandbox games are great, but if the entire playground is just sand, all the kids eventually resort to just throwing sand in each other’s faces. It just doesn’t seem like players are even given a pail and shovel so they at least have something to do with their 225 square Km of sand.

no DayZ is actually more like Asteroids. Stuff comes onto your screen and you point and shoot at it.

Seriously though, I doubt you've done even 1% of the stuff there is to do in the game. Comparing dragging a fallen friend to cover and giving him a transfusion to running over a health powerup is a stretch, as is everything else you said (thus the asteroids analogy).

@Goldeen

I did, 13 years ago when it was a novel concept and unique game.

what is this i don't even... dayz has some of the most intense tactical battles i've been in. i'm guessing you haven't played with a team in game. laying down cover fire, flanking, using the terrain to your advantage, trying to determine where snipers are by having someone draw their fire while others hunt for them, setting someone up on overwatch to feed you information from a distance, preparing ambushes, etc etc.

i played unreal tournament in a clan for two years and i can't even begin to try to equate dayz to it because they're so different.

It's because people are playing it like the every other shooter.

Try running a cab service from Cherno to Elektro and back.

If you got extremely bored of this game a long time ago, why are you posting about it now?

I smell a troll.

I find two things unique and amazingly fun with DayZ, the interaction with other players and the feeling you get in a fire-fight knowing that if you die, you have to start all over again. I don't think I've ever had a game that made my heart race when confronted by another player or felt remorse for killing someone. If all you do is play PvP then no wonder it's boring, there are plenty of other games designed exactly for that.

Every thread I go into that says this game is a glorified DM, I read it as such;

I DIED AND I'M MAD. ABSOLUTELY IRATE. I'M SO ANGRY I'M GOING TO MAKE A POINTLESS POST ON THE FORUM HOPING THAT PEOPLE UNDERSTAND MY FURY. AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAGGHGHAAAAAA IRAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!

No one cares, bruh. You are literally bringing nothing new to the table with this tear filled paragraph of whinerdom. Want to make a change? Make a post with logical and factual points with well thought out suggestions on the suggestions forum. I'm almost positive the mods and Rocket himself spend more time reading that forum rather than the "General" forum because it's filled with a lot of whiners filled up with a lot of hot air.

Basically, they have better shit to do than read your gripes in your pseudo-dairy on the forum.

I'm asking, did I miss something? Get good gear, fix a car, hoard some gear, group up, and shoot some players? What did I miss? Other than PvP there doesn’t seem to be much to do, and personally I’ve found far better games for FPS PvP. Learning the game was awesome, but once you figure the game out, there isn’t much to do. I know all games get stale eventually, and this game was worth the investment in terms of money vs. enjoyable game play. I guess my expectations of a sandbox survival game were just too high. Or I need to be more creative.

I love PvP, an I couldn’t imagine playing any multiplayer game that wasn’t PvP. I’ve been playing PvP longer than many players have been alive, trust me, I have no problem dying. In fact, losing everything when you die is the one aspect of DayZ PvP i really enjoy.

Do any of these people realize that this is a still in development MOD?

Is it just me or am I taking crazy pills or something?

I'm guessing you want to add in WoW features and remove pvp right? Typical.
