Goose Springsteen 9 Posted April 24, 2012 Hey once again guys!Personally speaking my biggest problems with the game are as follows: the ease of exploiting both the saving system and the various timezone servers. As it stands right now it is quite possible (accepting lag) to play pretty much in daylight 24 hours a day no matter where you are. I don't know if there is a good solution to this beyond making character persistent on a single server only (which itself raises issues when it comes to the popularity of servers and the prospect of not being able to play your character).Of course the issue here is that you are quite easily able to avoid what is by most accounts the most challenging aspect of the mod - surviving at night. However the most serious issue with the game at present is that you can quite easily and effectively exploit the save system implemented at the moment to get second chances and incredibly silly outcomes. I myself am guilty of this - after getting PVP'd in Chern I quickly alt-tabbed, end processed and by beating the save system was able to resume playing without the inconvenience of losing all my stuff. If the mood had taken me I would have probably been able to take out my assailant too something which would have no doubt been hugely frustrating. As far as I can tell the only way to mitigate this issue is to tighten up the save times to much closer intervals (sub 10 seconds) so that you never get the chance to do such gamey things. This itself I imagine would present problems in regards to lag and server strain but as it stands I think it would be fair to say that the saving system is the biggest flaw.Anyway I think I'm done for the night thanks for reading!Goose
griffinz 2816 Posted April 24, 2012 Server times/day:night ratio will NOT change. There will be no change it it.
Goose Springsteen 9 Posted April 24, 2012 Server times/day:night ratio will NOT change. There will be no change it it.That is fair enough but it doesn't mean it isn't something of an issue at least in terms of presenting players with the "full" and more challenging conditions. griffinz 2816 Posted April 24, 2012 The only solution I see is that a person has 1 survivor per server at a time (instead of 1 global survivor). Not sure how the DayZ database would cope under that extra info, though

Then you would probably need to have some kind of activity monitor where if you didn't play for a certain spell of time your guaranteed position on that server would lapse and someone else would be able to apply for it.This of course would probably result in there needing to be many more servers but it is 1.30am so pie in the sky ideas are very much on the table right now! blackbeard06 16 Posted April 24, 2012 Well interesting stuff. I really sometimes prefer night now. It makes it soo easy to kill other players by hiding in the night. I am guilty of this however I'm turning onto a friendly player now..
griffinz 2816 Posted April 24, 2012 That sounds unreasonable. We will just have to cope with it.I wouldnt be suprised if this mod was tightened up and released as an official expansion to Arma 3 with a robust back-end...here's hoping
jordnz 102 Posted April 24, 2012 I think the current system works fine;If players want to only play during the day, then let them be. Sure it might be advantageous to do so, but they are the ones missing out on the full experience that DayZ has to offer. Their loss at the end of the day - good items respawn consistently throughout the map, so I don't feel I'm missing out if they loot some great gear during day runs. They're missing out on the joys (and the horrors) that night time can bring.

Zymi 64 Posted July 25, 2012 The community is the biggest issue I have with the mod.
