Bullets for currancy

Recommended Posts

Ok friends I am fully fed up with people posting about currency so hopefully, I will fix this problem once and for all; with my suggestion of ammunition as a form currency. As we all know there are 34 unique types of ammunition ranging from shot gun shells to free flight rockets. This, "Currancy," system is based on rarity of each ammunition type and the numerical value given to of each rarity. The system is not pin-point but it does give a generally accurate rating. Some flaws with this are due to the value of some items like the M136 rocket maybe very rare but have almost no use. The point values for each Ammunition type is listed Below

Very common-1

Common-3

Semi moderate-5

Moderate-7

Rare- 10

very rare- 20

Sidearm

Crossbow

Light Machine Gun

Shotgun

Sub Machine Gun

Assault Rifle

Sniper Rifle

Rocket Launcher

I apologize if any of these are off, hats off do DayZ Wiki thanks for the info. oh and

EXCELLENT

Cuz its me!

Ammo is so easy to come by it doesn't matter anyway.

Besides. This is the apocalypse. Why would we need currency?

Im thinking ahead when this game really gets going. There will never be real currency but there will always be a need for trade right? Or maybe there will be when people stop killing each other. But that's aside from the point.

I'm not sure of the practical applications of currency in a setting where server hopping renders any static defences used to guard the treasure useless.

Want to create a bank somewhere in Cherno? Bandits will camp the approachs blocking access and then will spawn directy into the structure, circumventing any barbed wire, beartraps, tanktraps and even posted security guards.

I can see the advantage if I find some valuable ammo loot in a deerstand and then run it into Cherno to convert it into CZ550 rounds. Having a operational general store would be cool, but VERY dangerous for everyone involved. I'd likely stay away. You'd need snipers to watch the snipers watching for snipers. A huge operation.

Not that someone shouldn't give it a try, just don't expect to live too long. If Rocket could put spawn-in blockers (effectively creating tiny spawn free safe zones the size of 20m radius) then it could work.

See that is kinda like what i was thinking, but we all know that its not gonna happen until the game development is much farther down its path. My idea right now is like Building gas stations before cars. I guess its just to early right now.

ain't gonna happen, people are not going to stop shooting each other, it is easier to just go get some food or whatever you need, then ut your life on the line,

Further down the line Rocket is not going to just thing ''oh boy, I have approached surviving completely wrong! we should have a magic currency, because that is what would happen in the zombie apocalypse :D''

Now that i think of it. calling the thread bullets for currency was a bad idea. I wanted more to promote the idea that bullets could have been used as a value system. I feel like, "Currency." is to heavily weighted in this forum.

Its not magic its logical. in an Apocalypse Ammunition would be like gold! Especially for large / rare cal.s! The truth is this game make ammunition to readily available. If it were harder to find this idea would make perfect sense!

Problem with bullets for currency is they're only worth a thing if you've got a gun to put them in. Carry all the rare ammo you want, ain't no one gonna trade with you if they can't use it and don't know anyone who does.

I guess that goes back too what

I can hardly wait to see all the dastardly AS50/M107 Bandit snipers lining up to exchange beans for bullets after Rocket implements the magazine counters and their duped stock of ammo runs out. Back to AK's boys!!!

I think it would be nice in general if we had more reasons to trade. With bullets as currency we run into the problem of you not having any of the bullets I need. Super rare ammo doesn't help you if theres no demand for it. I don't have a gun that can fire the bullets you're trying to trade me means it's effectively worthless. If the world had a well defended place one could consider a hub for trade then something like this could work. If we meet in the wild and I'm starving to death, the food you have is far more valuable to me then any bullet.

Again.... I think if we get fifty people guarding like 1 tent in a secure area for 24 a day it could work.... Who's in? lol Edited by thatcommiekid

look up free side trading, they have essentially implemented this but in a much more inters tong way, people drive the game mechanic, its cooler than having some random gold counter or whuturr

and its spelt currency, currancy sounds like jam to me :)

Requirements for a Functioning System of Currency

The supply of currency must be issued and regulated by a central authority: Currency must not be consumed, destroyed or created unless sanctioned by authority. Without these regulations currency has no controlled value and cannot reliably used for trade.

The central authority must guarantee the value of the currency since it may not have intrinsic value (and is better if it doesn't), this is done through enforcing widespread acceptance of the currency and regulation.

These requirements are not possible to fulfil since there is currently no item that players have complete control over with regards to supply.

Some people criticise the idea of currency because "there's no government", but you don't need a government per se to have a currency system, you just need an authority to regulate it. There are millions of "micro-currencies" such as token systems -- just like you see in arcades or casinos -- that are used in small communities where there is no officially recognised currency. The benefit of any currency system is that you don't have to carry heavy items around to conduct trade. Surely that would be an advantage in Day Z.

I would love to see Day Z at a stage where currency becomes viable but that's a long way off. We can't make currency and we don't really have much use for it yet.

Sad isnt it. But thanks for the insight!

You know, currency is only what people value the most in these situations. Currency is whatever players choose for it to be, if at all. It could be food, tin cans, or hell, even your bullets. The capabilities are are already in the game, you just need to use your head. I don't think the DayZ community wants someone to tell them what money is, how much it's worth, or how to spend it. It really goes against everything the game stands for.
