deathwizard77@gmail.com 28 Posted July 25, 2012 Now i am all for a full reset. All vehicles all tents all characters reset. Everyone starts from scratch. Before everyone gets all in arms about this first let me state. I have several tents with helicopter gear, several vehicles loaded also. I doubt I'd be losing the most in the game but I'm certainly not a player that would not be losing allot. Fact is a month ago when i would kill someone at NW they might have 1 super rare item (M4A1 SD, Night Vision, GPS, etc.) or none. Now when I kill someone like 1/2 the time they are loaded with like all this stuff. I know people have learned better where to find items but the pure abundance of the stuff is obviously from the duping (both purposeful and accidental). In my opinion waiting for Beta or Stand-alone would make allot of the testing in this experiment until then be bad data and near useless so this should not wait. Rocket has already said the tent amount is causing issues.

GexAlmighty 54 Posted July 25, 2012 issue - lots and lots and lots of people now starting fresh at the same time on the coast, K MASSIVE HATCHET FIGHT GO!Other than that im not oposed to the idea at all
hishnik 23 Posted July 25, 2012 The problem i see with this, is that while yes, a lot of these came from duping... I fear even more came from spawning these items in. I have seen multple cases, where a person (same one) is sniping from the roof of electro, he gets killed (his body had an extra ghillie suit+coyote 24pack+AS50+NVG+rangefinder+GPS+DMR) and i am not kidding, less than 7 minutes goes by, he's already in the exactly same spot, with EXACTLY same loadout. And not like he alt+F4'd out of dying and his body was duped, no, he received a .50cal bullet to the head... With people teleporting others/spawning in weapons/vehicles (always nice to see an APC rolling down Electro) there is no point of that reset, just yet..All reset will accomplish is give you 99,000 pissed people, 40,000 of whom will find all needed for survival in first 30 minutes anyways, and 1,000 pricks who'll spawn that crap in and drive off in a spawned vehicle
johnyflash 10 Posted July 25, 2012 Im also for a full reset, but not yet! It is still an alpha and unless duping is fixed this would just help in the short run.

Yes hackers spawn stuff in. Often though they spawn in big stuff like different guns, satchel charges, guns not even in game. They are often killed in cherno doing other hacker stuff and most of the stuff is just lost or hidden. Most people don't' want to pick up the hacked items and hide body ( I do). So your theory that the majority of the high end is from this honestly i think is misguided. Secondly, I do not think you realize how much of the stuff has been from dupes. First off there was purposeful duping techniques that have now for the most part been fixed. Clans making 50 NVG's etc. Also right now accidental tent duping is rampant. I know of a camp where we found first time it was like OO 3 M4 SD 2 L85 AS50 range finder and NVG's. We took some spare stuff left. Next day we were like man lots of good stuff to get from that cmap we should make another run see if they moved it yet. Everything was back in the exact numbers. We then found out at least 4 other groups were hitting that site multiple times a day (tents reset on server restart every 6 hours). This is/was happening on other servers too. I highly doubt the majority is from spawned in.Im also for a full reset, but not yet! It is still an alpha and unless duping is fixed this would just help in the short run.1. Allot of the duping has been fixed (maybe not all) but allot has been and rocket said the current tent issues are due to the 1 million + tents int he DB. So the reset would stop that duping and give them time for a long term fix.2. Even if it is short term good would also give the experiment another view of a fresh start. Fact is a server wide truncate on all the tables should not really be hard or take long. As someone that works for a telecom software company that does massive DB's (millions and millions of call records per day in our systems) a clean start is rarely viable but always the best and easiest thing to do. Sadly in our industry it is not possible because losing phone records is not the same as losing some video game gear.

deathwizard77@gmail.com 28 Posted July 25, 2012 As soon as alpha ends and beta starts, I agree that a restart should happen. Why wait? If this is causing issues now fix it now. As someone that works with DB's of probably larger size if they are simliar (which they could not be) doing a complete full start from scratch reset would not be from a technical stand point hard or time consuming. I can not comment on the exact system they use because obviously I do not know it but the hardest part would be dealing with the player base fall out. deathwizard77@gmail.com 28 Posted July 25, 2012 Because whats the point of doing it now when all these exploits are still ingame. Not all the exploits are still in the game. Agreed some are but if we wait until all are it will probably be months. Why get bad data for months when we can at least improve that data some. I know of many duping bugs that were fixed and tent amount in DB currently is causing another. 100% of hacks/exploits will never be fixed ever. If you wait for them all to be done to improve the game will never improve. Nothing is stopping another reset happening at the Beta start. The Journey is all that matters who cares about gear. arkod 9 Posted July 25, 2012 Game's not ready for a full reset yet IMO. It's still in alpha aka testing, what's the point of reseting right now? DayZ team (Rocket...) probably needs more overall data than data focused on starting zones. After finishing some aspects he'll go for a reset and begin testing different things, most likely reseting after he's done with one part.

My point is current testing information is giving bad or false information because of this stuff. That is the reason for the reset.
naizarak 41 Posted July 25, 2012 complete reset + reworked item spawns less OP military gear and more civilian stuff. remove NGV/GPS/range finder/.50 cal's altogether
enforcer1975 1111 Posted July 25, 2012 (edited) I am for a full reset when Rocket releases the next DayZ patch. Better than a random reset and hopefully he will add those dupers and hackers to a global ban list so we don't have to deal with them anymore. sixbarns 217 Posted July 26, 2012 The gear is getting out of hand. Tents should be nuked until they're sorted out.
