HackZ: My experiences with DayZ over the past month

Recommended Posts

Literally nearly every death lately has been due to a hacker.

This is getting really old now, luckily my girlfriend recorded one of the instances we were killed by one.

In this video we are travelling to a friend by foot, and, as you witness near the ending fourth of the video we happen to start getting shot at. The perspective is not from my own, but hers, and as I recall he disappeared after I clearly hit him with a DMR 5 times. I assume he disconnected, when suddenly we all simply lay down dead one after the other, myself at 12k blood and no wounds appearing, just suddenly at some kind of negative blood. No gunshots, no anything.

Another moment, which literally just occurred, appeared to be someone who shot me out of a vehicle on a server of 7 people (US 509 Atlanta), 5 of which were my friends and myself. It was some kind of high powered rifle, a CZ maybe, where I was instantly headshotted out of the driver seat of a bus barrelling down a road. As I type this, another friend, who had died earlier due to a proning bug that caused him to run off a roof to his death instead of proning, was killed in Electro by the same rifle. He said someone just ran straight up to him and shot him. My friend says all he had on him was a rifle. This was all in pitch black night time.

Stories I've read about people getting telepoted and killed 7 times in one sitting playing the game (a couple hours for most).

The hackers are ruining this game for me, and I find myself experiencing severe buyer's remorse. I don't know why I keep trying to play, hoping that I can do what is intended without having some exploiting jerk ruining my fun, but it is becoming less and less appealing with each story and each death via hacker.

Is there such little security for the game? Is there any kind of future plans for better anti-hacker stuff? Were the DayZ team to go from mod to retail, would I expect the same, were I to even buy the game?

Sorry for the rant, and if this is in the wrong spot I apologize, but this was intended to be a general kinda thing and not hacker reporting.

US servers. That is all.

I don't really follow forum memes or anything. Is this just sarcasm or is there literally just ridiculous amounts of hacking in every US server?

He just trolls a lot of threads to get his posts up. Don't mind him.

The game is broken.

They need to start anew and use a different engine (not Arma2) that isn't as susceptible to hacking.

That or host everything on a centralized controlled server like traditional MMOs.

The headshot from a vehicle and the headshot on your friend isn't a hack.'

The sniper in the video didn't seem like a hacker. Also the random dieing is a bug I think. Its happened to me a few times before.

5 of us just suddenly laying down dead from 12k hp? Funny bug. Hasn't ever happened to me at any point since I've had the game for a good while now, nor any friends of mine who play more than I do.

I can't say I've seen much hacking on EU servers. I think most just hack in gear for themselves and shoot people in cherno so it's harder to tell.

If it only would be that easy.

Why wouldn't it be?

The game currently has what? 800k people testing it? Unless these numbers are falsified, the game is obviously generating huge interest from the general public. Set up a Kickstart program or whatever it is. It's not that hard to get a couple of hundred grand or more to get the ball rolling. If Rocket is serious about making this game a 'real game' instead of a pet project hobby that's 'anti-game', he'll need to go down this route sooner or later.

Make this game a full fledged pay to play MMO that has data controlled from a centralized server. It'll serve the dual purpose of generating the funds for game development AND drive away the script kiddies who probably abhore (can't afford) the pay to play models. The sandbox model does work (step foward EVE online), the developers (ie. Rocket) just needs more control.

All I can say is stick with Rocket give him sometime, hopefully when this game goes retail the hacking situation will be under control.

I myself have been lucky enough, I,ve met friendly cheaters offering me anything I want (long story), a couple of times I managed to disconnect and change server before anything bad happenend. And yeah I have been unfortunate to die by cheater to, I just got to swallow that pill and remind myself this is alpha this is test.

US servers. That is all.

It isn't limited to US servers.

I was teleported into an arena with every other player on the server on a German server.

I agree with the other guy.

During my 300 hours of gametime i only played on DE, LU, EU, SE servers. And i've always heard people complaining about hackers, however i've only seen 1 hacker ever, that was on an LU server.

Then i tried the US servers, i tried 3 different full ones, every single one had hackers. I logged in cherno, the first 2 servers, cherno was just on fire and i could hear a sniper shooting with what i believe to be the m107. The last us server i went too everyone just got instakilled.

I'm never playing on US servers again.

I just wish it was made clear which hacks are the responsibility of arma to fix and which are dayz's responsibility.

I hope the plan isn't to just ban the skiddies. With several hundred, maybe thousands, of them, this is a futile approach to fixing the problem.

Literally nearly every death lately has been due to a hacker...

A month ago I would of said, change servers. Unfortunately, in the last 3 days, every server I have joined has had a cheater and/or exploiter in it.

Admins are so unbelievably clueless now as to what is happening due to battleeye really being no use at all, they've even banned 2 people I frequently play with because they had picked up a 'spawned in' item, and/or got into a spawned in vehicle in which they had no part of.

I didn't realize how rampant it has really gotten until last night.

The very first server I was on, I was run over by something invisible:

http://www.twitch.tv...num/b/326061821

The next server I joined I was turned into a cow:

http://www.twitch.tv...num/b/326060832

The next server I joined had someone setting off satchel charges in various towns:

http://www.twitch.tv...num/b/326061064

(in case you don't know what this looks like: http://www.twitch.tv...num/b/324646496)

And finally, I was turned into a chicken:

http://www.twitch.tv...num/b/326061199

Now while it's funny to be turned into an animal. The ending result usually ends in death, loss of all loot, or being kicked. This wouldn't be so bad, however if you're like me, and you fucking are, it takes you 5 minutes to load into a server.

Long story short. I'm taking a break.

So you are suggesting EU servers are immune to hacks? Why don't the US servers just use their version of arma/dayz?

what servers are you guys playing on?

I've had DayZ for 8 weeks and I have never been the victim of a hacker attack (touch wood!) is it really just the Americans that cannot play nicely/are the targets for such attacks? Or am I just extremely lucky? (I play mostly on UK servers)

Its not engine problem. You could just "Lock" everything down so people couldn't using scripts(that's the hacking you talking about) Again people bitching about engine when talking about totally different things.
