Change the Spawn Points!!!

Recommended Posts

So, I played this game for about 20-30 hours at this point. I feel like I've got a pretty good handle on how it plays. While I love the concept and think the game often approaches brilliance, it is also extremely frustrating.

My biggest problem with the game is that it takes a really long time to 'set up' when you start a new spawn. By this I mean the spawn points are all in the wilderness and require 20 minutes to an hour of running to get anywhere with decent items that actually aid your chances of survival.

I express my frustration with the following scenario: Spawn. Run 30 minutes from Western airfield to Cherno cause the airfield had no supplies and you know you can't venture north without better weapons and some goodies. So you arrive in Cherno, spend an hour carefully navigating the streets, trying to stay out of sight. You get all the loot you want. Then, as you exit a building, some guy blasts you from behind, you're dead. An hour and a half spent PREPARING to start your journey, and you now need to do it all over again.

To ease this problem, which I imagine everyone has experienced, I suggest changing up the spawn points and having players spawn IN cities versus in the wilderness.

This will put players in closer contact with necessary items and also other players to encounter and team up with (or murder or murder YOU). It would greatly reduce the amount of time wasted every time you die. And while it may sound 'easy', I think it is actually the opposite. This way you are forced to get items and leave the city safely before you can really start adventuring, which is a challenge, but it eliminates that initial 30 minutes to an hour of just running. It also just makes more sense for a player to start in a city versus in the wilderness.

Beyond just spawning in a city, I would like a wider distribution of players too. Don't spawn everyone in Cherno or Elecktro. Create urban spawn points ALL over the map.

As it stands now, this game is becoming infested with campers who like to just sit around the handful of wide open spawn points and murder everyone they see. The fact that the average survival time is down to 28 MINUTES seems to support the fact that this game has attracted lots of COD-type players who just run around the spawns shooting each other. Distributing players around the entire map would reduce the chances of this happening.

Sorry for being long-winded, but those are my 2 cents. I think this is an easy change that would do wonders for this game's re-playability.

I do not think there should be spawn points inland what-so-ever. The whole premise of the game is you landing on the shore and taking that away would ruin many aspects of the game. It sounds like you just need to be more careful. Charging into Elektro or Cherno with nothing but your pistol, no matter your intentions, is a foolish thing to do.

The way I play this game, and the way I feel it was designed to be played, is immerse yourself, pretend this is your one life to live. I don't even get within a km of Cherno or Elektro without scoping the place out from long range with binocs or a sniper scope. Even then, I usually avoid them.

Now what I can agree with you on is a higher chance to spawn on the eastern side of the map. I have spawned pretty far north before, but only once. There are spawn points but they are mostly pretty rare. For the most part I spawn in between Cherno and Elektro.

I don´t want to be a dick, but i don´t think you get the point of this game. There are other zombies game for you out there.

This game is supposed to be hard, frustrant, very disorientating and most of all: slow paced.

Dear god that's a horrendous idea. Spawning in cities would just make it worse.

And if the first thing you do is go right into cherno or elektro then quite frankly your a fool and you deserve to be shot.

I get what you guys are saying, and I do get the point of the game. I just think it makes more sense to have a wider distribution of spawn points, and to have players spawn in an actual town.

And maybe you guys are just luckier with items. But it's been my experience you pretty much need to hit up Cherno or Elecktro at some point. The times I've spent north and inland I had difficulty finding much interesting loot. Maybe the mod is just quirky with loot spawns at this point though.

Like, I never saw matches or hunting knifes spawn in gear stacks until I looted them from a dead player first. Now I see them everywhere.

And Cortex, why would I wait to enter Cherno or Elecktro? Seems if I spent hours in other towns collecting gear and managed to survive I would have little incentive to go to those towns and risk losing it all. Just about the ONLY time it makes sense to go into these cities is when you spawn. You have nothing to lose, and most of the items spawn there.

The way I see it, you as a survivor have been washed up ashore with basic supplies, and that is why you spawn randomly along the coast. I think spawning in cities is a bad idea and can be easily exploited, however, I do believe that more spawn points are needed along the East coast, as the majority of people seem to be spawning at Kamarovo/Kamenka/Bolota/Chernogorsk/Elektro/Kamyshovo and leads to a higher density population in these areas.

I NEVER wander into Cheno or Electro; I did the first few times I played, but soon realized these are the two biggest PvP hotspots on the map. You're much better off heading inland straight away and finding gear there; not only are the people trying to kill you less numerous, but the loot is easier to come by because most people seem to stick around the coast.

I have spawn several times (Yes I keep dying, I'm so terribad) near towns, buildings and general civilization. Spawn near nothing is just bad luck, but less likely to spawn near zombies and bandits.
