unconsciousobjector 69 Posted July 25, 2012 What's with all the password protected servers?I thought this wasn't allowed and was punishable by shutting down the offending servers? When I use Six Launcher or the in game menu there's a LOT of servers password protected. What gives?Surely the DayZ devs can seethe same thing we can can't they? SystemiK 366 Posted July 25, 2012 I think the devs have pretty much given up on it for the time being. More and more server admins have noticed this and have been locking servers. I would imagine at some point a mass blacklist will happen, but for the most part the devs just dont have the time to deal with it. Plenty of bigger priorities than locked servers at the moment... unconsciousobjector 69 Posted July 25, 2012 Seems like it would be easy to sort the password protected servers and shut them down real quick. Probably a matter of minutes.
krtshv 362 Posted July 25, 2012 Yeah.. Devs are being lazy at the moment, but as said on the first post, probably mass blacklist servers once the important shit is taken care of.
*=LP=*Cpt.Kawa 57 Posted July 25, 2012 Well hackers are flooding in like crazy, so my guess is that serveradmins have enough and password their servers, which is understandable.
Plasty 7 Posted July 25, 2012 Fix the massive hacks floating around first.Locked servers is imo not as game breaking as the rampant cheating.

There should not be any rules which prevent you from protecting yourself in the current state of things. I don't own a server, but I would definitely utilize password protection if I did; I am lucky to play for 45 minutes without encountering a hacker at this point. It's 50 bucks a month to host and we probably won't renew with the hosting company once the paid month is up.
