Your rules for shoot on sight

Recommended Posts

Out of pure curiosity, I thought it would be interesting for some of the community to share their shoot on sight rules.

I myself will NEVER shoot anyone who is unarmed. No matter how much i dislike you or whatever, if you are unarmed, you are safe.

I will never shoot on sight if the person in question is not a direct threat to my safety. If you are running away from me, or if you are just oblivious to my presence, i will not shoot you in cold blood.

I obviously will not shoot on sight if I am either outgunned or have no escape rout.

Anyone care to share their thoughts about their sos rules?

If they have better gear than me, I normally don't take the chance.

Normally better geared players, are the more bored and blood thirsty ones.

That said, if someone is running in my direction with an axe, they will also get shot if they get too close.

I shoot if I feel they're a threat, and everyone is a threat.

I'm not one to hunt somebody down though.

If I don't know them I shoot them. Can't be too careful, you never know they might be a brain dead walker...

Do they have a gun?

Do they know I am there?

Have they responded to direct?

All these questions need to be asked before I just shoot them anyway.

I don't shoot on sight, only in self defense(shoot back)

I first make sure it isn't a friendly (as in; from same group I play with), so usally I shout: "EVERYONE WIGGLE!"

If the person in my sight isn't; I take the shot ;)

There are some other "rules" I have, like making sure I'm at a safe location before firing my weapon (no zeds around, able to take cover and retreat).

Also when playing in a group there's only one person who can give the "open fire" command, so we all apply to that.

Hrm... Rules eh?

1. Always have a gun - otherwise it's impossible to shoot on sight.

2. Find another survivor - otherwise it's impossible to shoot on sight.

3. Shoot the survivor on sight - otherwise it's impossible to shoot on sight.

I may or may not shoot on first sight, but if you are a stranger, I will shoot you eventually. Matter of time.

I tend to do it when i start out in a city like Elektro. The sheer amount of players, with the fact that almost anyone in there is trying to kill one and another, i do tend to shoot or chop down the players that i find to be a threat. Other than that i just steer clear of most people and try to get out of the city as quick as possible.

I generally don't shoot those unarmed, from there on... You're out to get my gear. If you have better gear than me, I'm hunting you down. This only happens when I have high tier equipment, if not I'll just run up to people and lean from side to side, I generally get shot but it's not overly bothersome when you know how easy it is to get that Enfield back...

I always shoot on site just in case they have something good. For example. I was in cherno and this guy had no weapons and was climbing a ladder. I shot him. Found out he had a Enfield with 8 magazines in his Backpack along with tons of medical supplies and food/drink + Compass+GPS. Now to me he looked like a freshie from the coast. But hey, I took the chance that he had good stuff and wasn't a freshie. I think I won :)

(If I see people on the coast I don't shoot them because obviously they just spawned)

Depends on what kind of weapon the opponent is carrying (I'm usually sniping from a hilltop so I am the one to stop the opponent first). I will usually not engage if he's unarmed or if he's got a shit weapon. If I'm unarmed myself (in rare cases) I usually try to get in contact with someone else since I've got nothing to lose in these cases anyway.

kill everyone i see. that unarmed guy approaching me? yeah, hes gonna find an enfield in about 5 minutes and put a bullet in my dome if i don't make him respawn somewhere far away. hatchet? please. i've killed lots of people with hatchets. i KNOW how deadly they can be.

the only exceptions are if its some new spawn who is running along the coast or something traveling in the opposite direction that i am. i figure that we will be far apart by the time he gets dangerous. if i'm not sure i can get the kill quickly or it is going to put me in a dangerous situation i might just vamoose, as i don't want to botch it and alert him and possibly his friends to my presence.

generally, if i can kill someone i will. it's safer and more satisfying.

I will only shoot when being shot at, no matter what I have on me.

In my experience if they have a Lee Enfield they are probably a bandit so i should probably shoot them on sight lol. Tbh i don't shoot on sight i tend to follow someone (without being seen) and if i see them kill someone or they take a shot at me then i shoot.

Fairly new to the game, but I got frustrated with being unarmed and shot on sight so I avoid shooting anyone unarmed, or if they lay down prone with a crowbar or something I will probably not shoot them. Plus, it is fun teaming up on the fly; trying to suss out if the other person can be trusted. If it really were a zombie apocalypse situation I think there would be a lot more reluctance to kill strangers because you can't watch your own back all the time and who will help when you are injured?
