Need help with Amazon version.. unable to play.

Recommended Posts

First off I'd like to give a personal hello to the community. I just recently discovered this mod and I think it's fantastic. I can't wait to be able to play. :P

but I have a few issues....

Launching Arma from Arma2oa.exe shortcut on my desktop, I get greeted with this message:

dayzerror.jpg

When I try to join servers, I get kicked out with the "You can not play/edit this mission; it is dependent on downloadable content that has been deleted.cherarus' message. I've used the DayZ updater numerous times, it doesn't seem like I'm missing anything.

Could anyone help me out? I just installed both games, I've patched to version 1.60. They run fine alone.

One thing I did notice was my Arma2 OA was installed in my Program Files(86) folder, while the original Arma2 is installed in my regular Program Files folder. Could this be the culprit?

I've seen numerous posts that say to launch the game from Combined Ops? I don't have this. The Amazon version gives you both games separately.

Then you have Combined Ops! Sort of.

You said you'd created the shortcut' date=' and I can see you've loaded DayZ properly (it is, after all, generating an error message) so that's good. Right click the shortcut and select properties.

In the target line, where you have -mod=@DayZ, we want to add a little more to force it to load base ArmA 2's assets.

change it to "-mod=[your path to base arma2'];Expansion;@DayZ"

So, if the Amazon version installed itself in C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2, your mod line would look like this:

"-mod=C:\Program Files (x86)\Bohemia Interactive\ArmA 2;Expansion;@DayZ"

Don't forget the quotation marks if you have any spaces in your path, and remember to ensure that the semicolons are present between each portion of the mod line. To be on the extra-safe side, you can reproduce the capitalization as it appears in your path.

Thanks for the reply Mojo.

I found a thread that said to move the AddOns folder from Arma 2 into my Arma OA folder. I did that and all my errors are gone. I'm now in-game.

My only issue now is this really bad frame rate I'm getting.. I get the same bad fps no matter what quality setting I go on. I have an intel core i7, 8gbs of Ram and a invidia GT 555M.

That also works (I did the same thing with symlinks), but you need to be careful with patching. If a patch comes out for ArmA 2, you'll need to remember to copy any new PBOs over. Since I don't think any new patches for base A2 will actually come out though, or at least any that change any of the PBOs, you'll likely be fine. Just keep it in mind if it suddenly starts giving you errors.

As for the framerate issues, welcome to ArmA 2, the game where no matter how beefy your computer, you will always be limited by your hard drive. The EXE's can't use more than 2047MB RAM, regardless of how much you have. Best recommendation there is to get a Solid State and put your installs on that, which will give you the biggest performance boost for your dollar, since you only need to move 16 or so gigs over to it, even a 80 gig SSD will do.

My guess is that your graphics card is too weak, maybe you might get it to run decent with the lowest settings but most likely you need to beef it up.

Hmm well I disabled post processing effects and I get a steady 30fps (at the cost of visual quality...)

I can put everything else to high/very high so at least the textures look alright.

EDIT: Alright the FPS lag is back.. I get 10 regardless of what settings, low or high.

Please refer to the sticky topic:

[GUIDE] Amazon.com version: How to get it working

http://dayzmod.com/forum/showthread.php?tid=4119

Your problem is caused by Arma 2 and Operation Arrowhead being separate and therefore not Combined Operations. While copying the files from the addons directory will get you into Day Z, it doesn't actually fix the underlying problem and can cause more issues and headaches in the future.

As the link I posted says, install Amazon Arma 2 and OA in the same directory and then run the 1.60 Combined Operations patch. This will fix your problems.

Also, the latest hotfix patch has caused severe fps issues for many users. So we may have to wait on a fix for that to come on Thursday.
