Please for the love of god tell me that the case of players loosing their items when swimming is a bug. Other players told me that this is in fact not a bug but a feature in the mod/game... I just lost 4 hours of progress and this is the kind of stuff that makes me loose belief in some games... Of course if it is a bug it is understandable.

It is a feature from the original game, and series if I remember correctly (can't remember if OFP had it, but Arma 1 did as well)

Makes sense TBH. It doesn't happen all the time, but it does happen sometimes. If you take backpack swimming, your flares probably won't light, your matches will be fucked, you won't be able to read your map, and some of your contents might have been lost in the water anyway.

Exactly, you'd probably dump the gear anyway to avoid drowning.

Yeah but why would anyone EVER want to go even near water if you risk to loose all you have been gathering for the last hours? Or even days?

Thats why you drop your stuff before swimming

I believe I read that your gear falls to the bottom. I suppose you should not have such a loose grip on your gear or you may lose it when swimming.

You lose it if you go swimming. Why on earth would you want to go swimming with precious stuff. You don't need to re-enact Free Willy to refill your water bottle.
