Too easy not to starve/die of thirst

Recommended Posts

Is it me or do soda cans seem to spawn everywhere? And food cans are only slightly rarer. It's a bit silly, I thought survival was supposed to be a relatively major aspect of this Mod? I've never even come close to starving/dying of thirst.

Likewise the animal a.i needs to be sorted for hunting. Fine, cows are just dumb and stand there (they should be rarer though) but what about the pigs/deer who do the same thing right upto the point I bury my hatchet in them? This needs to changed as well, though it needs to be combined with an alternative way of restoring blood other than blood bags/cooked meat.

I'm fine with it, cause the penalty for extreme thirst or hunger is a bit much o.o

I might agree if I knew what the penalty was!

I find it funny, when I'm stocked with food/water and medical supplies I still find so much more food and water, however last night my friend died and he had most of the food on him and I couldn't loot him as his body just sunk into the floor (He fell off a cliff :|) So once my food and water started to flash I got desperate, even though I was inside Berezino I couldn't find any thing to eat or drink, after about 2 minutes of losing blood due to lack of water I shot about 30 zombies and not one of them had any food or water on them -_- I soon logged off and awaited my friends long journey towards me. I've learnt to pick up food and water for my self and not just rely on someone else.

10-20 blood loss every second.

Might be a bit higher, but me and my buddy were to busy running from the city left of Stary Sober back to Stary sober to find food. And then defend ourselves from zombies.

Went from around 8000 to around 2000~

Last time I checked it's basically instantly when it happens. Or maybe a few seconds but I'm not 100%

As I said, I was to scared to get the food to eat and not die

[How] much time [does it] [take] to start [losing] blood after the icons [start] flashing?

The blinking icons last for an entire cycle- sort of like having 1 bar on your gas tank.. there's still a gallon in there! If you're really trying to stretch out that last bit of food/drink, you don't instantly die, you only lose about 10 blood per second. So, feel free to start losing blood before you drink or eat, and you'll be a-ok. Keep in mind that you'll regain 200 blood with a can of food, or 800 blood with meat.. so you can afford to lose a little here or there.

Source: I dropped my food and water near an empty tent in the middle of nowhere and they glitched away.. so I was stranded with red food and drink, spent about 10 minutes looking for my glitched away FAL.. and then after about 5 minutes of blinking food and drink, I gave up and ran for 20 minutes to the nearest town. About 5 minutes in, I started ticking down from 12000. I made it to the town with about 6000 hp and started shooting zombies. It took a surprisingly large amount of zombies to kill before I got a drink off of one. (~50). Needless to say, I think if you start blinking red, as long as you're heading towards a town, you should never die of hunger/thirst because you'll be a closer than I was.

Goddamnit guys I was trying to emphasise how rare dying of thirst/starvation was!

Maybe I'm just extra paranoid? I do tend to carry around 5/6 slots worth of food and drink at all times. I eat/drink any extras I find.

Yeah, it depends where you go though. Sometimes I'll walk into a supermarket and there will be cans of food and drink all over the place, but other times it'll be empty tin cans and whiskey bottles.

I always try and get a canteen and matches, hatchet and a knife, so I don't have to rely on going into towns to get food and drink and try to keep the level of scavenging I do to a minimum.
