- Valkyrie - 89 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) For all those poor guys being betrayed, shot in the back, trolled for days on voice chats just to get owned when rare loot is found etc..The following:1. Survivors are being forced to become murderers/bandits because they get shot in the back after helping someone, so in their next life they shoot at first sight.2. Bandit groups/clans consisting of random guys that teamed up are not working. People are being betrayed and shot after they find good loot. Same goes for random survivor groups.3. The only working groups/clans of bandits and survivors in DayZ are those groups where people knew each other before DayZ (in real life or from another game).4. The forum is full of posts where people teamed up for days, talked to each other over voice chat programs and then when the goal is reached, get shot, banned and laughed at.5. I think its clear that if you are expecting to team up with people you meet in game or on the forums, you can expect to get shot most likely when you least expect it.Remember those 5 things and get yourself a partner you know in real life or from another game. I'd rather get a real life buddy to buy the game, and team up with him. He won't have any skills & weapons, he'll be a noob. But with this noob I can play relaxed, having 100% trust and confidence with my partner which is the key for successful surviving in DayZ. Instead of being stressed all the time with a random group, expecting anyone to shoot me once we get rare loot. I am not a bandit but I shoot any armed survivors at first sight. I died several hundreds of times yelling friendly on the VoiP and running back to cover while being shot, chased down and finally killed. I won't shoot at unarmed guys and guys wielding hatchets or crowbars since they are no threat to me, unless I am unarmed myself. To conclude.. Play alone, expect everyone to be a bandit and kill before you get killed ..or.. team up with people you know, so you can achieve great goals together, other than just shooting people. Playing with people you know = Fun. Playing with random people = Rarely Fun / Mostly Stress, Frustration, PARANOIA.Playing alone = Well.. You'll figure. With that being said, enjoy the video & stay safe. See you on the battlefield.. or I hope not :) Edited July 24, 2012 by `CaRnAgE..
zython (DayZ) 196 Posted July 24, 2012 Meh, it's a game. I can appreciate the finnese of people who gain the trust of unsuspecting people and then murder them. It adds a psychological layer to the gameplay.

It adds a psychological layer to the gameplay.Yeah that's true. People expect too much kindness from others. DayZ is all about surviving, with any means necessary. With knowing that, I don't trust anyone. Works out just fine for me with being a Lone Wolf.
KaptKirk 4 Posted July 24, 2012 Don't take this guys post like he is the almighty. I found a group of guys to play with on here. Never knew each other before DayZ. We have found rare loot and we don't kill each other. Whoever finds it first can keep it if they want, but almost always it goes to the person who needs it most. We watch each others backs and we survive. I'm sorry if the OP has had some bad experiences, but there are survivors out there looking to work together. Just keep searching. sirxazor 3 Posted July 24, 2012 I been playing this game for about a week and some days and we are a group of 4 friends. When we were trying to find each other we found ALOT of people killing us on sight, but we did find players that helped us and even gave us gear and food.So I am 50 / 50 with the OP.Not all players in DayZ are Dbags, just the black sheep. I didn't say it is like that with every single survivor. There is a guy that saved me by shooting all the zombies in a hangar I was trapped in. He took me to Cherno, gave me gear, food and drinks, just saved my day. But it is most likely you run in 80% of all random meetings and team ups into bandits and people that betray you at the first chance they get. Most of the people post on the forums so they can shoot. Exceptions are there of course, but they are in the minority. Now more and more players start shooting at first sight, not because they are bandits or want your loot, but because they are afraid you will shoot them first. Its just common surviving habits. darknight558 41 Posted July 24, 2012 Bandit groups will of course be sketchy. If they didn't find each other on the forums, they would be shooting each other up in game. But with Anti-Bandit groups friendly fire is unheard of. Although i cant vouch for the public antibandit groups. My own group has had only 2 cases of friendly fire since we were founded. This is with 211 people may i remind you. 2 of which i know in real life. So please, stop hyping this shoot on sight policy... one big reason it has gotten out of hand is because new players read these forums for advice. and are scared shitless by forums like these. The Anti-Bandits Steam Group:http://steamcommunity.com/groups/TAB-DayZ
- Valkyrie - 89 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) and are scared shitlessThat is right. Wouldn't you be scared in real life in a post apocalyptic zombie infested world? I would. Would you trust anyone you just randomly meet and not even considering they just want your stuff so they can survive? I wouldn't trust, I would think. Think and you'll survive, just think. Meeting a random player in game has a 50/50 chance of getting you either shot or helped. I play the game as I would play in real life. I helped dozens of people, mostly unarmed newbies or armed just with a hatched. I got stabbed in the back several times. I see the forum full of posts how people got betrayed. Both on the survivor as on the bandit forums. Its just common sense. DO NOT TRUST ANYONE YOU MEET IN GAME. Its a fact. Even if he tries to help you, it might be just for your loot, or he is really that rare kind guy to find in this game. I had several friendly contacts that went nice, but most of the time I just make contact with people that start shooting at me at sight. Most people were friendly at the start, then they get killed several million times by trying to help others. So now I am a Lone Wolf, just surviving. I rather evade contacts with other players if they are armed, If I see you spotted me I shoot before you can do so. I try to make contact with the unarmed ones and hatchet guys to help them out. Once I got them food and drinks and basic gear, I move on my own again. Don't want to be stabbed in the back. But generally, be careful, rather evade or shoot first at armed guys. Unless they are lowering their weapon and scream friendly over the VoiP, but even then.. it could be a trap. You have to assume that everyone represents a threat to you. This is what you have to assume at first sight. You can then go to cover and hide while asking them if they are friendly, but most of the time you will realize you should have fired at sight, once ricochets play the ballad of death around your head. Stunt_M()nkey 26 Posted July 24, 2012 I am not a bandit but I shoot any armed survivors at first sight. Soooooooooooo...............................You are not a bandit but you shoot armed survivors, you are kind of contradicting yourself surely with that statement. Although i think on a similar wave length. Hard to trust a weapon welding Apocolypse survivor, sometimes i like to try and give them the benfit of the doubt. {420}Mr.Smiley 53 Posted July 24, 2012 As ive already told ya of my tale of being totally fucked over after a week with those guys, i still like to maintaine my fire only when fired upon mentality, you will always be killed at some point by some douchebag, in the end you have to be stronger than they were, you have to resist the urge to be a killer. This vicious cycle can end but you have to be the bigger man in these situations :\
