fitzusaf 0 Posted July 24, 2012 Just started playing the other day...I've been trying to do some research so I can survive longer. In a lot of the topics I've seen, and beginner videos I've watched, people suggest running into buildings and looting. I don't know if I just have bad luck...but I went to a small town east of Otmel, and the first four buildings I tried were all closed. By the time I tried the next one (also closed) I had attracted enough attention and left running for my life. Do I just have bad luck with buildings, or am I missing something? Ramirez77 6 Posted July 24, 2012 (edited) Barns/Deerstands for guns/weapons.Small buildings in small towns for food/flares/useless shit. The cities and industrial areas are for when you're more experienced. Also you have to solid-snake your way around towns or else you'll attract tons of zombies. thehumandove 344 Posted July 24, 2012 Not all buildings are going to be accessible. To know which ones, you should check a dayZ map, just look on google or something. Also, for the whole running tactic, your best bet is to run into a bigger city like Cherno or Elektro. A lot of those smaller towns only have one entrace so if there's no gun in the building, you're toast. That's why barns and larger buildings are your friend...you can always escape. Do I just have bad luck with buildings, or am I missing something? The issue with Chernarus - as many veteran players of ArmA II will tell you - is that very few of the buildings in the country can be entered. After playing for a few days, you'll start to recognize the buildings that can be entered and looted - I've been playing for perhaps three or four months, so I can actually spot those particular buildings at a good distance, and know which ones are in most towns, which are worth looting and which aren't, etc.Your best bets are fire stations, supermarkets, and large office buildings (multi-tiered buildings with an unenterable tower on top), as well as any assortment of green tents (which are medical/military camp sights). Bear in mind these spots, in all towns, will be high-traffick; as such, you're much more likely to be ganked by another player there.Good luck!
dvious 9 Posted July 24, 2012 You can't enter all the buildings. If you can see inside the windows are the one enterable
