As far as I'm aware, you have to have the full copy of both games. The free version of Arma2 doesn't work.

You can't run mods on the free version, so obviously this won't work.

I have the same problem, according to: http://images.4chan.org/vg/src/1335659941076.jpg it can be done with multiple people confirming it has worked in the thread.

I actually have a valid copy of Arma 2 but since my PC is not great I'm opting for the lower textures for an increase in performance.

Getting the error message of: cabuildingparts, although I am selecting combined operations when launching the game (also seeing the @days logo on the top right)

Once arma2free is installed, make a mod folder "arma2free" under the arma2oa folder and copy all of arma2free files there (can also use sym/hard link). You MUST to use a shortcut or bat file to launch. Use -mod=arma2free;expansion;ca as part of target line to load arma2free data for combined ops mode. Also, see this post for moar info:

well crap, i retry to launch it at on my friend's computer, but i always got errors like "needed files that have been deleted blabla dayz blabla"

or with beta patch "error creating directx 9 device"

i m not subverting anything, some told you can play with arma free and so i told my friend to play together.

15 euros seems enough

This is meant to be played after having bought both games. It is stated many places that DayZ requires Combined Operations to play.

EX: Chernarus is not included in OA, it's only in default ArmA II.
