When looking at my map sometimes 1 or more orange/yellow dots appear close to me but then disappear. Are these other players?

Other blue dots indicate players. An orange dot is most likely a zombie. It basically means you can see them but the map has no further info to determine whether it's a player or zombie.

Okay, thanks. I just freaked out a bit ago when 7 of them appeared withing 30 meters of me. Thought I rolled (crawled) up on a big posse of bandits.
