Bambo (DayZ)

Very Frustrated

Recommended Posts

Many a player have probably posted about this, but I feel as though I must be heard.

I have a lot of problems with this game...some are so frustrating I want to quit (I ain't no quitter though).

I want suggestions on how to deal with these problems here. I can barely last more than fifteen minutes on this damn game because of these issues here:

1. The bleeding is absolutely ridiculous. Mild blunt force trauma does not result in massive external/arterial hemorrhaging. That's just stupid.

2. Not spawning with any sort of weaponry takes ALL the fun out of the game for me. I'm not asking for a M16, but a knife or hatchet would be nice.

3. The zombie speed is just plain retarded. I can't outrun them. I can't do anything, because I no longer even spawn with a weapon. I just have to keep running...and running...and running. Like, what the hell? How is that any fun at all? THEY NEVER STOP FOLLOWING ME DAMMIT. Couldn't they make it to where they have a maximum range or something like that...or make it to where I can actually outrun them. Christ, spawning now is so damn hard.

4. The zombies' line of sight is ridiculous. They will see me before I see them. Ridiculous. I can't defend against that at all.

5. Attempting to enter buildings of any sort is just plain retarded. It's very cumbersome.

Because of these issues: THIS HAPPENS EVERY TIME:

I spawn. I locate the nearest town or building. I try to loot it. I will sneak (I will f'ing CRAWL for Christ's sake) around trying to get inside a building to loot. I am INEVITABLY spotted. INEVITABLY. As in, THERE IS NO BLOODY WAY I AM NOT SEEN. I am chased. I proceed to run excessively for the next ten minutes, as I do not have a weapon of any sort. I will run into the water, hoping to lose them. I may or may not lose them (10% chance I lose them). I am chased some more. I run in buildings looking for something to fight with. I almost ALWAYS find nothing. I continue to run. I continue to get chased. I proceed to run to the next town...the zombies are STILL f'ing chasing me too. Then, one of the following happens:

1. I am dehydrated or starving. I am forced to repeat the events of the previous paragraph in order to find food or water.

2. I got hit at some point during all of that and I proceed to bleed profusely. Unfortunately, I cannot stop long enough to bandage myself as the zombies are still chasing me.

I die. The end.

Any suggestions for me? This happens to me EVERY TIME I spawn. And it f'ing sucks. I am convinced this game would be fun if I could just get some equipment. Any help?

This game isn't for the average player, I'm on my first playthrough and I've managed to find weapons, bullets, food/drink, and shelter from zombies if I have to run for whatever reason.

Just keep at it, the games not perfect but a lot of your complaints are what make the game so fun to play.

If you can find yourself a melee weapon, you can pretty much prone sneak up on any zombie and take them out with 1 or 2 hits.

Not a pro but a few helpful hints.

1. Zombies chasing you. Best ways I have found is to A) Run up a steep hill. The kind that slows you also slows the zombie. Enough to get some distance and either lose them or find a hiding spot. B) Use a building to slow them. They must walk when inside a building (aside from hangars I have learned). Go in one door, let them collect inside, run out the other side.

2. Bleeding. There is no way around it. You just need to use the above zombie losing tatics to get the time needed to bandage yourself.

3. Line of sight. Remember to use cover. Wait for the right time to cross. Broad daylight vs. dawn/dusk/night means different sight ranges as does weather. Also, the position of your character from standing/crouch/prone as well as running vs. walking. In the end, sometimes there is no way around it. Every zombie near you is oblivious while the one across the way sees you. Just run and use those escape routes.

4. No weapon. Not much choice here. Hit the hotspots if you are brave. Market, stations, military areas. Hit up any barns/houses/warehouses on the way and you are sure to find a hatchet or a common firearm.

5. Entering buildings. Not sure what the problem is here. Just need practice? I have not had this problem myself.

Just run for it in the beginning. It's actually not worth the effort to try and sneak past everything when you first spawn. You have nothing of real value and there is no way to stop those players who just kill for fun. Your best hop is to confuse them with the train of zombies you bring in your wake.

More questions? Let me know. I'm not 100% with this game but I know enough to help first timers.

You usually have 2 choices when first spawning, either run through major cites ignoring the Zeds while you loot, or screw the coast and head into the forest and find Barns and Deer stands. Trying to loot a town with nothing is pretty tricky, and usually isn't worth the risk.

lose zeds arent hard , you doing it wrong

there are lots of bandage , LOTS

find a weapon is damn easy , even in hot spots like cherno or elecktro

Entering buildings hard ? i sort agree.

I think this is not the rigth game for you , most "problems" you talk aren't problems at all .

1. The bleeding is absolutely ridiculous. Mild blunt force trauma does not result in massive external/arterial hemorrhaging. That's just stupid.

Well, it's not meant to be easy.

2. Not spawning with any sort of weaponry takes ALL the fun out of the game for me. I'm not asking for a M16, but a knife or hatchet would be nice.

It is very easy to find a weapon... just go to barns.

They do stop following you, if the loose line of sight. They also can't run steep hills well. Just run into a forest or a house with two entrances (1st in 2nd out) and you loose them very easy. Zeds are that fast because AI pathfinding sucks (zigzag) so they were made faster to keep up with the player.

4. The zombies' line of sight is ridiculous. They will see me before I see them. Ridiculous. I can't defend against that at all.

Run...

5. Attempting to enter buildings of any sort is just plain retarded. It's very cumbersome.

It's an old engine, what do you expect?

Just three rules I learned to get better and get better things in DayZ.

Step 1: Don't just take off running. I was in the situation that new players were in and all I wanted to do is run. Take it slow crouch survay the area find best routes in and out.

Step 2: Newer players want to jump into a server with 50 players. Who doesn't? Join a game with 5 - 10 players to have lease chance of running into them. Get use to the map, town, and the game.

Step 3: Like everyone says "TRUST NO ONE". The least of your problems that you want to deal with is a partner. I been there I know what you think "Find a partner and you will do great" NO, if you have a so called Partner you get cocky think you two are invinsible but you are not. Stick to being alone unless you really need someone to help and you have no option.

Examples:

1. Started a game, another new player was next to me, we teamed up. As soon as we both got weapons he killed me.

2. Started another game, found a player that was starting a new game to, he stayed with me till someone drove up on a quad and he ditched me.

3. Funny but, I broke my leg falling at Electro. Was at 3k blood, made it to the hospital. I sat there about to die and needed a blood transfusion. I heard 2 people so I stared yelling help. They found me gave me a blood transfusion. Heck partners for life, I was used for bait and was killed. -.-

You can't really complain about this stuff, it's the design of the game. It isn't meant to be easy.

If you don't enjoy it then you probably need to play an easier and more casual game. Also, you need to learn more before making these comments. I think I died about 2-3 times before I figured out basic survival and am now on the same life from 3 weeks ago...

The trick is to get better at the game, and then all these problems magically disappear.

So you're doing the same thing every time you spawn... and getting the same results.... and you're surprised why?

Find a row of bushy trees or bushes. Zig zag through them as close to the center of each tree as possible without running into it. Serpentine describes this best.

By the third tree the zombies will lose sight of you. Just try not to run on a road or something immediately afterwards or they'll hear you and you'll have to do it again.

Any building with two doors can also help you lose zombies, for now. Go into the building, wait, and then run out the other side.

You can also run around buildings. Make sure you take the turns as sharply as possible. Multiple houses, fences, buildings can do the trick but using bushes is best.

Know where there is a building with two doors before you go into a town.

Find some covered high ground and have a look, and if you sneak around the outskirts you will see target buildings and hopefully any threats in the area

Just take your time getting there. Keep to cover (more from players perhaps) and crouch run to lessen your zombie magnetism.

If you do aggro, and a player shooting you as you sprint through the town is a risk worth taking, you can try to lure them out of loot spots and then run like a mad bastard to your safe building.

Preferably a larger building. Stay in the middle and let what ever followed you in, then head out the other door.

Crouch run when you exit, it will help.

If you can put a wall, fence and or a hill between you any Z's you should be able to lose them.

You can then sneak your way back to loot buildings, that may well now be clear of fear, once you feel you've lost trail of Z's.

..and you still have that building there to head to if you re-aggro, so unless you run yourself into a dead end or stuff up jumping a fence you should stay ahead of the infected masses.

Isn't a stealthy approach but it works for me most of the time.

Another way is to first find a hatchet, out of town perhaps, and then take your chances swotting zombies as you sneak in, killing just those you cannot avoid by crawling past.

Blah blah perhaps

Perhaps care less about your character's death and have fun that seems to work for me too.

What fun would this game be if they gave you a weapon to start off and then you can kill other newbie survivors?

You have bandages, use them.

I don't understand how zombies are "too fast". They aren't fast enough to catch and kill you.

Run into buildings to lose them.

The challenge of this game is what makes it fun(searching for stuff, meeting others).

Keep playing and you'll get over this

The game can be (or is?) frustrating at the start. Seeing your problems i think you would be best off teaming up with someone. There are plenty of friendly people on the forum you only have to put in a little effort to reach out for them.

But i quite agree the zombies are completely wack at the moment, i've been running around zombies for a while these last couple of days scavenging vehicle parts and happening onto various crash sites in the progress and the zombies seem to once again have very keen eye sight. They agro from across a hill and just start running, this is obviously perfect because they line up nicely for a shot in the face. I even extend the courtesy sometimes to let them get close enough for a face full off pellets.

Just be very very carefull crawling around, if you are not very experienced yet with the way of the infected then consider crawling whenever you are in a town with zombies close by, crouch running doesnt do the trick at the moment.

The last advice i can give you is to look for a server that still has sidechat enabled, most servers i stumble across that have this active tend to be much more friendly then the ones that dont.

oh boy really??

Really we still have these threads, can't you just watch a bloody youtube video about it?I mean there are DOZENS...

Does it worth the time come here and make an idiot out of you?

Strong zombies, no gun, bleeding and Zed aggro.holy god....

I mean WTF, what do you want?

Do you know there are SEVERAL WAYS TO GET RID OF Zeds?Do you know that you can run into a city gear up with nearly everything without fireing a gun?

Do you know that the biggest threat is other players trying to snipe you, not the Zeds?

ZOMBIES ARE A JOKE,YOU INCLUDED, bahhh

Sounds like you are just crap at the game if you ask me, I never have problems being spotted, or losing zombies. Just get better at the game and stop crying on the forums.

what happens to you happened to everyone in the beginning. just play again and you'll learn. watch viedos on youtube, there are plenty of guides. and remember that some patch can always change everything you knew about this game. specially infected behaviour
