So, presumably, some of the people reading this thread have been playing since at least 1.6.8 - many of you will remember this as one of the "Rocket broke the game and has to release eight hotfixes in one day" phases of DayZ (of which there are several). As far as I can recall, 1.6.8 was the longest stable build of DayZ in recent history. I started playing 'round the 1.5s. It was around the 1.6s that I started understanding the game and finding much better loot.

Here's the thing: since 1.7.x, my loot has been absolute ass monkeys. I mean literally dick all. It used to be that you would have a tough time finding loot - now I find that, half the time, there just isn't any. Don't get me wrong, and don't confuse me for a new player - I know where and how to find some of the best guns in the game, and if I die, I usually recover all of the essential tools for survival and an ALICE pack inside of an hour. No biggie.

It's just frustrating as a motherfucker when I loot an untouched military barracks, ten military hangars, a fire station on a military base, an A/C tower, and then a crashed motherfucking helicopter site and come up with one AKM clip and a smoke grenade. I mean, what the hell is that? You can't tell me this is how the game is meant to be, these days. There has to be something bugging out the loot, because helicopter crash sites are essentially the pot at the end of the Goddamn rainbow - they have the best loot, and usually a decent amount of it. I've found three FN FALs at one helicopter, ghillie suits, DMRs, etc. How is it even remotely possible that there could be literally nothing at one?

Opinions? Ideas? Anybody?

i looted 2 heli crash sites today, both fresh after re-starts, one didnt have a single weapon just ammo and one had a medical box and a fnfal and some junk, its just luck, sometimes you get a rich crash sometimes it's trash

I looted a firestation and found a silenced M9, its out there just keep lookin, although I do understand what you mean, I went to the airfields on a server that had no one on it except for me and the only thing I found was some tin cans, while you may get lucky sometimes with loot its ridiculous how little there is.

Someone must have beat you to the loot, I have not had any problems with finding good items since I started playing (v1.7.1.5).

went to stary sober last night after server restart, found 6 ak 74 clips, and 2 smoke grenades.

Nah, no zombies had been spawned. If they had looted it long enough ago for all of the zombies to fuck off, in theory, there should be more loot there now. Besides, I find it hard to believe that they took every single item they found - most people will leave one or two things; something they don't need, something they already have. The only real explanation is that it just didn't spawn a single drop of loot.

i farmed the southern barracks at nwaf for 3 hours yesterday, emptied everything out in a pile about 30 meters away from the front door, did a sweep every 20-30 mins or so. the only decent items i found were a m1014, an akm and a pdw. the pile consisted of 3 acu packs, an assload of misc ammo, about 12 hunting knives along with 239842938 tin cans and other misc crap.

Today i log in and do a sweep of both barracks and found fuckall, so i decided to look for some crashed helis. Found 2 crash sites, one with 2 FALs, and one with 1 FAL...

I attributed it to my long history of shitty luck, but maybe there is more to it.

Just to see what I'd get if I kept at it for a good while, I looted the entire northwest air field, a downed chopper, and Vybor roughly three times each (except for the helicopter, which I hit twice; two different loot spawn triggers failed to spawn a single bit of gear), and yielded exactly one M4A1 with two clips. That is it. In three hours.

Nobody sees a problem with that? I mean, I'm not saying it should be easy as all hell to find military gear - I'm just saying that three hours and three successive sweeps of the most dangerous, best loot-yielding areas in the map should, in theory, have gotten me something. Anything. All I got was a pretty common assault rifle.

I have a theory about the loot not spawning. From what I've read the loot will not spawn if there are players within the vicinity, so high traffic areas like cherno/elektro they won't spawn loot because there are people around, whereas some of the other places such as Zelenogorsk will always have loot because there are less people around. I feel your pain OP, 2 nights ago I was in your boat struggling to find tin cans, but last night I managed to find an enfield, colt, food/water and backpack all in 2 high value residential in cherno on a highly populated server

I think some servers are fucked up. I've played on some servers where there's absolutely no loot. Almost every building will be spotless, not even a tin can in sight. I just switch servers if I notice its like that, because I assume something is bugged with the server. Found a few good servers that tend to consistently have loot. Also, found some NVGs at a crashed heli tonight.

Found an as50 and a MK48 in one crash site. Gifted the as50, found a cz550. I also advise you to scan the north, All the hoarders collect stuff there, so rich pickings and no zeds. :)
