Game having odd FPS drops.

Recommended Posts

Hey there! My friend has been trying to play Day z, and when he first logged in, he noticed that his game was having these weird FPS issues.

Now I'm not talking about a constant, say, 20 FPS, because that would obviously have something to do with video settings. His problem is that he'll be getting good FPS until he moves or turns, then it will tank for about 4 seconds then go back to normal, and keep repeating like that. The odd part is that this never changed when he lowered his video settings from maximum to minimum.

I can run ArmA perfectly with near max settings and have no problems at all. And my computer isn't THAT much better than his.

So does anyone know what exactly is causing this? Is it poor optimization? Is it just the nature of alpha mods, or what?

Go to video options then advanced then disable vsync. That helped me alot

also make sure video memory is Always set to default and try setting textures to low it could be that it cant load content from the hard drive fast enough for the higher textures not sure though. make sure vsync AA and post are all disabled what are his computer specs also?

Just a reminder: Video options don't make a difference (I'm not sure if my friend tried to disable Vsync so that might still be an option)

I'm not sure about all of his specs. I know he has 8 gigs of RAM, and has a Radeon 5550 or 5570.
