Owei 0 Posted July 22, 2012 Hi guys, like this topics says, i have some performance issues on my notebook. Its' specs are:-i5 2430M (2 x 3 Ghz with TurboBoost)-4 GB DDR3 RAM-GT 540M (2GB RAM)-Windows 7 (all softwares are up-to-date)I changed all settings to the lowest and worked through some arma performance guides, e.g: http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/forums/showthread.php?2565-A-few-simple-notes-on-performance&p=76042&viewfull=1#post76042... But in bigger towns, sometimes my FPS are under 10... On free areas FPS are at about 15-20...Does anybody have some suggestions to fix this? Or does someone use an equal notebook, but is able to play DayZ?Thank you in advance!

pyroxfire 10 Posted July 22, 2012 (edited) hmm odd i get better performce on my macbook air 2010 which is just a dual 1.86 ghz 2 GB ram and a nvidia 320M make Sure AA and post processing are off and vsync. also make sure no programs are open that are stealing up cpu reasources. also try to note fps on a less populated server vs a more populated/full server.also as an nvidia user open the control panel and make sure pre rendered frames is 0 (Sure setting this higher Can give you a higher Max fps but at 0 your fps is more stable so ive noted )EDIT: i play dayz on a laptop :P also note i get about 40-60 fps open field about 24-30 big town so you should be getting better fps then me also try lowering your interface and 3D res make sure there the same though ( ie. 800 x 600 for both) Edited July 22, 2012 by PyroXfire
Owei 0 Posted July 22, 2012 AA, post processing and vsync are off and there are no other programs stealing cpu recources. This was was first thing i checked.I can only set pre rendered frames on 1 (there is no 0 to pick). CPU and GPU are set to bring maximum performance instead of quality.Here are the values of my arma2oa.cfg:language="English";adapter=-1;3D_Performance=1500000;Resolution_Bpp=32;Resolution_W=1280;Resolution_H=800;refresh=60;winX=16;winY=32;winW=800;winH=600;winDefW=800;winDefH=600;Render_W=1280;Render_H=900;FSAA=0;postFX=1;GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000;GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=0;HDRPrecision=8;lastDeviceId="";localVRAM=1026097152;nonlocalVRAM=1801379840;vsync=0;AToC=1;FXAA=0;Windowed=0;class ModLauncherList{ class Mod1 { dir="baf"; name="Arma 2: British Armed Forces (Lite)"; origin="NOT FOUND"; }; class Mod2 { dir="pmc"; name="Arma 2: Private Military Company (Lite)"; origin="NOT FOUND"; }; class Mod3 { dir="d:\programme\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2"; name="arma 2"; origin="GAME DIR"; fullPath="d:\programme\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2"; }; class Mod4 { dir="expansion"; name="Arma 2: Operation Arrowhead"; origin="GAME DIR"; fullPath="d:\programme\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\expansion"; }; class Mod5 { dir="expansion\beta"; name="beta"; origin="GAME DIR"; fullPath="d:\programme\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\expansion\beta"; }; class Mod6 { dir="expansion\beta\expansion"; name="expansion"; origin="GAME DIR"; fullPath="d:\programme\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\expansion\beta\expansion"; }; class Mod7 { dir="@DayZ"; name="@DayZ"; origin="GAME DIR"; fullPath="d:\programme\steam\steamapps\common\arma 2 operation arrowhead\@DayZ"; };};PPAA=0;PPAA_Level=0;
pyroxfire 10 Posted July 22, 2012 Hmm since your on a laptop make sure your power options arint making anything work in a power saver mode make sure the laptop is pluged into the wall.. and hmm.. thats odd. open your task manager is there anything else open that could be stealing resources? it should run good on the laptop in video options try setting textures to low and turn shadows off maybe your hard drive is a bottle neck.. though if that where true then the fps would drop low then go back high x.x thats an odd issue.. try makeing sure all drivers are up to date. i mean it should run good
Owei 0 Posted July 22, 2012 well, laptop is plugged into current, energy saving mode is set to high performance, my task manager says there are only 55 processes and none of these are stealing performance and drivers are up to date. all arma settings are set to the lowest (so shadows are off and textures are set to lowest). well yes my hard drive is kind of a bottle neck. it's a standard 500gb s-ata 2 hdd for laptops with 5400 rpm (2,5"). but i can't see how my hdd influences FPS. once the data is loaded into the RAM there should be almost no traffic anymore between HDD to RAM.I really can't get it how you can reach ~50 fps on open field and not under 25 in towns with your hardware...still any suggestions? pyroxfire 10 Posted July 23, 2012 hmm set both GPU_MaxFramesAhead=1000;GPU_DetectedFramesAhead=0to =1 and in your nvidia control pannel make sure pre rendered frames is set to 1. though you should be getting a good fps. there has to be something.. are you running 64 bit? either way its a 32 bit app and only has acess to 2GB of ram a hard drive Can cause fps issues with any game that reads the hard drive alot not all games just load everything into ram (like minecraft fps can drop bad due to a hard drive bottle neck) though i dont think this is your problem you have decent hardware and with everything down it should be smooth as butter..
