As far as I understand some tanks were built on the chassis of tractors. Therefore regular civilian farmers can drive at-least some of the tanks. :D

Eh, no. Considering that most player's won't be able to even scratch the thing, taking a lucky anti-material round or the EXTREMELY RARE anti-armor in the game to destroy it.

BLeh i dunno why peeps are thinking you would need an uber gun, the vehicle has been given more armor and padding but you cant get bullet proof windows in the game. The vehicle integrity is just more sound.

Okay, I'm confused which vehicle we're talking about at this point. If it's an APC we're talking about, it would be very hard to destroy it with the guns given to you in DayZ (Since, you know they don't really have big windows to shoot through.) If you're talking about a Vodnik, sure it has windows in the front but the rest is pretty sealed shut, still making it hard to take it down.

:S so am i, i think i also caused it, ignore my blatherings. I was on about using scrap metal to add extra defense to vehicles. It appears ive read to many vehicle threads and have merged them in memory. Apologies.

I'm 21 and I do know how to fly a bi-motor without any training ( my uncle was a pilot and gave me the REALLY basics functions, and I was able to fly it) A Huey must not be that difficult. Idk about APC, seems unnecessary.

APC's drive just like any other civilian wheeled vehicle. Tracked vehicles are designed to be as user-friendly as possible, for all the meatheads in this world. If the survivors are smart enough to figure out how to fly a helicopter, they can figure out a tank pretty quick. Shit, do you know how many things you need to do right just to start a fucking heli?
