Finch (DayZ) 0 Posted May 21, 2012 Ok, so I know zombies are pretty much oblivious to me when I'm prone, but what about other players?Mostly I ask because honestly the crawling on the ground noise is as loud as sprinting coming from my own speakers, are sounds you hear from your own character representational of how loud you are to other players you might be nearby? Here's a situation. Trying to loot the NE airfield at night and go through safely, but saw someone with a DMR climb on top of the aircraft control tower as I was leaving. So I could have taken some shots at him from my vantage point off the the side a bit but when I'm sporting an AK74 KOBRA and I've got numerous zombies roaming around its really not an option. So here's my question, can I crawl/walk into the building go up the stairs and up the ladder to the top of the control tower and pistol him in the head without him hearing? Is the ingame sound level indicator accurate when dealing with other players?
pingzite 3 Posted May 21, 2012 A player can see you pretty well even in darkness, and the sound is enchanced through your own speakers for effect, players at about 10m can probably hear 20% of that, any further than 40 meters and unless your sprinting i doubt you can hear anything. Also, the sound and see indicators are only zombie based. Not player.
sephirotic (DayZ) 1 Posted May 23, 2012 (...)So here's my question' date=' can I crawl/walk into the building go up the stairs and up the ladder to the top of the control tower and pistol him in the head without him hearing? Is the ingame sound level indicator accurate when dealing with other players?[/quote']There is a trick on how to crouch-walk without making a single noise, but i ain´t tellingWhat i do can tell you, is that, if the guy is not a complete dumbass and has either good headphones at a decent volume then yes, he can clearly hear someone crawling dowstairs and will be aware of you coming.I strongly recommend any1 with such basic questions training on arma II missions with a couple of friends, will help get you more familiar with you character and how player vs players interacions occur. Zoombies shouldn't be any reference, sometimes they are dumb as fuck, sometimes they seen to have extremely overpower senses and reflexes.
PeteOfButcherBay 17 Posted May 23, 2012 tap the movement keys at low intervals while crouch walking can make you walk silently, don't tap to fast otherwise you might sprint unless you like me and removed that from your controls, i use mouse4 button to toggle sprint.
