gareth_sims 4 Posted July 22, 2012 Direct coms dont seem to be working for voice at the moment, on all of the servers i go to, is this something wrong (Bug) or something that is being removed, or am i retarded ? :P
napata 22 Posted July 22, 2012 You can change your chat channel with the "." button Direct chat has a limited range so thats probably your problem. the Side channel seems to be global but that isnt enabled in all servers. I have been able to use voice chat fine so far. Remember to hold down capslock when doing so. Also try not to use your mic over a global chat too much as it gets annoying and off putting. Polak (DayZ) 14 Posted July 22, 2012 I believe the Direct com. is up to 60m (It was 40m last patch)
FrostDMG 398 Posted July 22, 2012 Make sure your mic actually works - a basic suggestion but that could be the cause. Also, someone could have VOIP turned off
slyder73 94 Posted July 22, 2012 Ultimately, the VOIP is a server settting. Direct is allowed but is up to the server to turn on or off.Are you sure the server you are playing on has direct chat turned on?

Direct is allowed but is up to the server to turn on or off.Are you sure the server you are playing on has direct chat turned on?This is basically what I was going to say. Just because there is a direct comm. channel, and everyone has their VOIP enabled, doesn't mean the server does. But, if it's a server you regularly voip on, then I honestly have no idea.On a side note, does anyone know why my in-game voip doesn't come through? I use mumble, TS, vent, etc.. fine while I play it with friends but if I try to direct comm people around me just say static is coming through. Is it possibly a digital patch setting regarding the USB headset I'm using? I'm not aware if there are/is a routing matrix(s) or something one can go through to troubleshoot. P.S.If any of you are browsing for a new headset, avoid the Logitech G35. I've had it for like 3 years now and can honestly say it's junk and you can get better for less. gareth_sims 4 Posted July 22, 2012 Yeah, my mic works over skype and everything else and i am aware of the range, i was not aware of the servers being able to turn this off tho and it appears that many have this off :( i think this is a key part of interacting with fellow players and it should be enabled on all servers... I have my G35 plugged in via USB and run the game with a TS channel outside, a seperate google chat channel and third, the ingame VOIP. All three work fine. It must be some sort of conflict? Do you use the G35 drivers etc? All updated? Are you running game plus TS/mumble or whatever all in admin mode? I have an issue with sound when I forget to lead TS up in admin mode, then TS does not transmit while I'm in game (though I've not tried VOIP in those circumstances). The written chat works though. I'm using the direct communication chat as well, know how to use it etc. it just won't work today/night, anyone know a EU server where it actually works ?
