Can't join DayZ servers, don't have latest version - Just installed DayZ

Hey. I just got Arma 2 Combined Ops today and installed DayZ. Here's the exact method of installation I used:

Step 1. Run Arma 2 and Arma 2 Operation Arrowhead once to the main menu and exit.

Step 2. Install the Six Updater tool from the dayzmod.com website. I ran the updater AND the launcher and hit install on the launcher.

Step 3. Right click Arma 2 OA on steam go to properties and in the launcher options I typed: -mod=@DayZ

Now when I right clicked Arma 2 OA and launched combined ops, I saw @DayZ under the top right Arma 2 icon in the main menu. Indicating I installed it correctly. On the bottom right my version was 1.62. something, which I beleive is old. Most servers required 1.7 and up. When I join any server it says the following: "You running a wrong version of Dayz Code".

Anyone? Really eager to play along with 3-4 friends that also bought the game with the $18 sale on steam today :D. This is happening for all of them by the way. I even tried manually installing by creating the @DayZ, and addons folder myself and extracting the newest files for DayZ that didn't work any better than the Six Launcher and Six Updater.

I didn't have to do that. Just run DayZ through the Six Launcher, be aware however, ever since this latest patch, theri have been numberous issues of people not being able to connect to servers.

What he said, you need the latest beta patch of ARMA as well as the latest version of DayZ.Beta patch can be found here. http://www.arma2.com/beta-patch.php Look at the top of the page. current patch is 95208. these numbers should be at the end of your 1.6.2.*beta batch version*. so it should say 1.6.2.95208 if you install correctly. I think this is going to work. But now I'm getting "Bad Serial Given in Setup" I got that before but I thought I had fixed it by running Steam as an admin. I'm on Windows 7 64 bit.

Okay, everything worked fine didn't have to update files or anything. I just used the Six Launcher and played directly from there. Is there a way to make this work through steam just for the sake of letting friends know I'm playing?

Try using Inspector_Gadgets' suggestion and using that for your Steam target line for Operation Arrowhead.

there's an options in 6 launcher to open with steam, but it won't say dayz it'll say arma 2: operation arrowhead. also in your steam games library, there's an option to launch arma 2: co you can make a custom shortcut in steam to make it say dayz if you really wanted. if you launch through arma 2: co in your library it's suppose to run more than just arma 2: oa.

Okay my friends have even more issues now.

One of my friends (we'll call him friend A in case any other issues occur with other friends), gets a message saying that the server is full or he has been kicked by the server. This happens for every server he joins. He's joining directly through the Six Launcher. DayZ has been quite a headache.

the option to run Dayz over Sixlauncher and Steam is bugged and I can not recommend this. Just run it over 6Launcher and ignore the fact steam is not recognizing this.

So I just use SixLauncher and no steam?

He's (Friend A) also tried updating his beta version to 95208 but it doesn't work.. For some reason I had ArmA 2 beta version 95208 and didn't need to update. It also says his BattleEye fails to update.

you can use the "DayZ Commander" It can also update and run your game through Steam ;) maybe try this.

So a new beta patch is out I noticed. (My DayZ servers were saying I need an updating version of some files), how do I update Arma 2?
