Is it possible for 2 players in a firefight to kill each other?

In some games the engine mechanics make this impossible.

What is the case in Dayz?If 2 players are in a gunfight and both die does that mean there was a 3rd party or is it possible forem to have killed each other?

Yes. In a variety of ways.

1) you can literally shoot eachother to death

2) you can die, and have your opponent blead to death

3)You can wound someone, have them bleed to deth, and you fall off a bulding and die

4) You both commit suicide in some form or fashion.

I can't see why not.

If you both have the same amount of health and weapon.

And technically if you both fire at the same time and the same amount of bullets hit each person.

Then you should both do same damage and die at same time.

Because of the lag inherent in the ARMA online experience, it is totally possible for two guys to deal enough damage to kill each other before the server can catch up an realize there's a war on.

yes, happened to me, some #@%$ shot me in the back with Makarov, while I was typing in chat to ask if he is friendly, I had AKM so we died at the same time

depends on your weapons and who shut first

he made 1800 damage each shot and I made 4500 so he hit me 4 times and i hit him twice if I remember right..

here some song about it ;) (skip to 1:00)

Yes, this happened to me while I was looting one of the NW Airfield barracks and a server hopper spawned, we both shot and killed each other.

1) Player A shoots Player B, and Player B goes down. Player B fires back, and breaks Player A's legs. Player B dies of either blood loss or another shot from Player A. Player A has no bandages, nor does Player B. Player A bleeds out, or respawns due to the broken leg.

2) Two players kill each other at the same time.

3) Player A shoots Player B. Player B kills Player A. Player B bleeds out.

Yeah, it can definitely happen.

I was in Cherno awhile back walking down the road and I got shot but not killed. I bandaged myself up but was still pretty screwed with blurry vision and what not. Anyways, I stumbled into the building where the guy who shot me was camping and unloaded a whole AKM clip but because I was all screwed up he had enough time to turn around and shoot me and when he did, some of my bullets hit him... We both died.

Yes it is possible cause it happened to me, i saw someone enter the tents in Stary Sobor and followed him there, turns out he was expecting me and we had an amazing shootout that ended with both of us dead, however found those bodies hitted jackpot lol

The only shooter game I know of where two people couldn't shoot eachother to death was counter-strike, simply because of the extremely old engine and the fact that bullets had no travel time.

is the lag that's in dayz from the arma2 engine?

it makes close-range firefights an absolutely death wish. it's pretty much impossible to actually kill someone before they have a chance to shoot back due to the lag

This has happened to me countless times this week as I'm not a huge fan of sniping, so i spend alot of time in close quarter fire fights. I really want it to be different in the standalone... but not getting my hopes up.
