Discourage Player Killing Suggestion

Apparently he changed his mind. In his lastest interview he said he'll try implementing random skills to players to increase teamwork. If you need other players you're not going to shot them. I hope it won't be possible to farm for skills and just stand in your base healing and shoting at someone to increase your healing skill :/ A Eve Online model would be cool, ie you could increase your skill automatically, even when you're logged out.

You level up skills by doing nothing , merely time investment. Any game that rewards time investment with benefits is a bad idea as it rewards those with no life and punishes casual players. The same goes for any skill system really. The game should be down to a persons skills and knowledge and not those magically awarded to a character in the game.

I dont like the idea of the buffs, because that way the bandits would be punished , and that is against the mod's original game concept..

Maybe just a skin for bandit ( already implemented ) and other for the really good guy ( or just the guy that is a noob and dies every 5 seconds :P )..

I haven't played Eve for many years, but don't you level up your skills even when offline? You just need to log-in to chose a new skill to level-up right? So it can take 5 minutes every day :/ How does it rewards no-lifes?

Well maybe we could just chose 1 skill at character creation, and that's it. So they're just different classes, each with 1 skill (healing, car repair, base building, fishing...) and you couldn't level up this skill? That way there's no difference between no-lifes and casual in term of skills. That'd sure force cooperative play.

So I just made a new thread but I guess I should of just posted it here but, a solution to this topic is that Every one gets buffs by just being together, even if they are bandits, bandits still work in teams.

so the way the initial skills would be distributed is by one patch some start off randomly with a max skill in one area, then next patch no more max skills and every one has to learn off the survivors who are left.

This is less about balance and more about choice. players are being forced to kill each other because they are way too worried about bandits.

There was already a bandit skin implemented a while back, but that was a disaster as people were "murdering" in self-defence, and then getting shot later because of their skins.

By giving the nice players some goodies based upon how little they murder as an incentive, like a "do not shoot" skin, it allows friendlies to identify other friendlies easier, and for strangers to form teams in less time.

Bandits should still exist, and if they work hard enough, they could even wear the "good guy" uniform and infiltrate groups of people if they so chose. Bandits will look like any other player like in the current game regardless, and very little in terms of gameplay would be lost. Of course, this system isn't perfect, and could use a bit of tweaking.

Again, this is more about choice and less about ballance.

I would hate to see buffs in dayz Save that for WOW or hello kitty adventure island, maybe a idea could be a advanced bandit/Hero skin more like a system so you would be able to get a idea of the person approaching you, Bloody hands the idea where, when you kill a player you get Temporarily bloody hands, Sleeves, pants, so you're body just got killed, now you can identify the actual Shooter.

I dont think player killing should be discouraged. I think working together should be encouraged. From what it seems they're adding in the standalone. At the very least, player community's will be more prominent. Bandit or otherwise people will start working together to get there bases.

I like militias idea as well. I believe it would be hard as shit to add but i'd enjoy it.

It seems to me that any advantages that would be right to offer players who play co-operatively and group up with others are advantages that they would already be gaining. For example, I think better general health was mentioned. It's natural to have higher blood levels when you travel with others who can give you a transfusion, as opposed to the solitary bandit healing with steak. Mmmmm steak. Sorry, got sidetracked there. But the same holds true for defense, offense, looting supplies, repairing vehicles, pretty much every aspect of the game is benefitted. So I think the reward system you want is already in place, you just need to refuse to shoot first. You'll die. A lot. But those times that you don't will be worth it.

I'd agree with skin changes only, not buffing up people who dont kill... the only pvp issue that needs resolved is high tier gear dickheads trawling the coast for unarmed targets giving the rest of us a bad name.

tl;dr, honest people...no matter what you do to bandits, if I have to use a fucking crowbar to kill people, I will, even if I have to walk over people while they are prone to kill them I will, nothing will stop me from killing people, I think its fun and I love posts like these.

But wouldn't a black skinned player have an even greater advantage in terms of camouflage ? And in night games he/she would be invisible.

You keep mis-qoting Rocket over and over again saying he wants everything the way it is now. From what he said, and I understood it as. He does not want to punish people for PvP, and still wants it to exist in-game. He wants to eventually have an almost world-building expereince with "underground bunker spawns, etc." or something of that nature. He wants to improve the viability of team-play between strangers in-game.

However, the current system is so set against team-play that it is nearly non-existant without outside help from a third-party chat program. a bunch of friends logging in at the same time is the only real way to do it. but if you are a stranger, forget about it. you'll get shot on sight.

Everyone will have candles on their cake. the type of candles will be up to the player with what I'm suggesting. again it doesn't have to be stat buffs, and could be something completely different. but you certainly are not helping solve this problem of lack of choice.

I'm pretty sure there is no pvp problem and rockets generally fine with it the only problems are people like you bitching and acting like you're always correct dont say that its against teamplay im a bandit and I team up pretty easily now please shut up no one cares about your suggestion
