Hello Everyone

Recommended Posts

I'm new here so I just thought I would say Hi and introduce myself.

I'm a complete noob, not only to DayZ but PC gaming all together. I just recently built my first PC capable of playing any games better than solitaire. Only other game I've played extensively on PC is Skyrim and I used my xbox controller for that, lol.

I've learned early on not to trust anyone in this game. The very first time I spawned there was a guy standing there with a suppressed assault rifle, He shot me in the back to steal my beans :(. Pretty much everyone I have encountered has shot me on sight. Only exceptions were the people who didn't have weapons.

Anyway, I do have 1 question. How do I communicate with other players in the game. I've tried typing into the "group channel" and the "Direct communication" but received no response. I haven't attempted to hook up my headset with a mic yet to see if I could communicate with vocally. It would be nice to at least try to form a group.

Using direct communication will talk to the person if he is around you.

If you have a mic you can hit caps lock to talk vocally.

Thanks Matt. Do I have to hold the Caps lock key or does it work as a toggle.

The only mic I have right now is my old Xbox mic. I know it works for steam chat but I haven't tried it on DayZ yet.

You can press & hold Caps lock to talk or you can double tap Cap lock to have your mic always on.. and you will see a little mic icon on the left of your screen. I'd suggest just using press and hold.. otherwise its easy to forget and have an open mic.

Welcome.

Thanks Tommy.

Hopefully I can find someone who won't shoot me on sight. Only gun i ever seem to find is the CZ 550 scoped rifle. Being new to the control scheme makes that a tough gun to use in a pinch.
