Selecting primary weapon?

How do I put a hatchet or a knife/pistol in my hand so I can use it? I can't find any vid tutorials to explain it.

You play a couple single player tutorial missions, that's how.

EDIT: *sigh* Right click the hatchet to put it in your primary slot. Pistols and whatnot should automatically equip when picked up, otherwise use your mouse wheel.

There aren't any tutorial videos because it's already included in the game...

Hello.

If you have a knife then forget about it. It's only for gutting animals so that you can take their meat and cook it into food. Your hatchet will end up in your inventory and that is located by pressing "G". Right click the hatchet and press "remove from toolbelt". That's pretty much it. I recommend you to go to airstrip outside Balota because that's military area and you will probably find weapons there :D. Hope this helped!

This is the place to ask questions.

Keep in mind, when starting up, that hatchet is a GREAT zombie kiling weapon and pretty good defense against people too if they come at you.

If zombies chase you in towns while you are trying to find gear/good/liquid, run into a building. The zombies stop at the doorway for a couple seconds and then move in slowly. Just stay out of their reach and swing the hatchet. You can kill hundreds of zombies without getting hurt that way, and the hatchet is silent so it doesn't attract more, nor does it alert other players that you are there.
