Actually DayZ has a ingame Difficulty selector

Recommended Posts

After one month of gaming, I just understood one thing : You can choose your own difficulty level via your gameplay style directly inside the game. That mean, in any situation you can adopt different approach from easier to the harder way.

Very Easy difficulty (Pussy) =

Eat, drink, & survive.

Get a sniper rifle, if you see a human, shoot.

If you're shot : ALT+F4

Easy difficulty (Bandit) =

Eat, drink, & survive.

Get a weapon, if you see a human, shoot before being shot.

Normal difficulty (Survivor) =

Eat, drink, & survive.

Get a weapon, if you see a human, shoot only if you get shot first.

Hard difficulty (Guardian Angel) =

Eat, drink, & survive.

Get a weapon, if you see a human, try to help him (if he needs help).

Discuss...

Pro Forum Tip: Edit your previous post rather than making a new one that says almost exactly the same thing.

Well, not all of us are bandits by choice. It's just how it evolved when one tries to play "Jesus level" that you apparently call hard. I would call it idiot level Easy.

Hard Difficulty is to build a large base, scavenge enough vehicles to pack up and leave every 2-3 days. Relocate, keep scavenging, firefight with other people etc. The way it's meant to be played. I let people go when I understand they are no threat. But yesterday, we saw someone at a heli crash site with an UAZ.. The prize was too good man... My two friends covered me, while I sprayed my M249 towards them, then ran from cover to cover to joink the UAZ right in front of their eyes. They were too scared to actually fight back. So now:

UAZ: Check

Photon : You call this the idiot level because you can get killed easily IF you act like an idiot.

Wrong. It's easy to get vehicles, build a base relocate etc... just a question of time.

But yesterday, we saw someone at a heli crash site with an UAZ.. The prize was too good man... My two friends covered me, while I sprayed my M249 towards them, then ran from cover to cover to joink the UAZ right in front of their eyes.

That's the purpose of my topic : you can choose your difficulty level directly ingame. You chose the easy way to get a car (more easy than look for it in the vast forests of chernarus). This is not a judgment, just a statement and I would do the same thing as you with a M249 in hands :D

So your definition of difficulty is just by how much you're dying? Cause that's all you're getting in your normal and hard difficulties.

Following your logic running around electro/cherno with an axe is the hardest possible thing to do.

I maintain what I have once said:

Banditry would still exist if people did not Alt-F4 ... Bandits could then rob people, and the people could then decide to fight back and the cicle would be restored with intresting player interactions.

But no, players need to Alt-F4, therefor bandits are forced to shoot first then loot ...

This entire cluster fuck has never been the bandits fault, only the carebears too scared to lose their gear / life are to blame for all this.

Just fix the server hopping, disconnecting in fight and duping, reset all chars and tents and set smaller spawn chances for military loot and it should be good.

No you can easily staying alive if you follow some rules. Like : not runing frontly to a survivor on an open field with your ghillie suit and sniper rifle in the hand, shouting on direct communication "HEY YOU! HEY YOU! get on the floor right now!!".

You have to be smart.

Like what sneak up to them and tell them you're friendly and then get shot in the face/back the moment you stop aiming at them?

Try to avoid being seen by a guy you clearly see and can shoot? In the next few seconds you might loose the sight of him and he will shoot you instead.

Of course there are those situation where you can assume the guy is no threat, like if he's clearly walking in an opposite direction or just spawned, but most of the time it's either shoot or be shot. If not right now then in the next 30 seconds.

By talking about it as a "difficulty level" you kinda brought it upon the thread yourself.

Are you trolling me? or maybe joking?

Why would you want to help a group of 2 guys with rifles and shotguns ? they seems fine, don't them ?

You can't just run to a group saying friendly, that's just stupid :\

I'm not talking about going to chat with EVERY survivors. My definition of hard level is helping guys that seems to NEED help.

Observe, judge, decide.

Your game, your story, you can decide to avoid them or shoot first. Nobody don't fuckin care.

The thread is about the Difficulty level changing INSIDE the game.

They need help with what exactly? Zeds? Please, they are ants. Other players? Which ones do you help? And in the end you're probably going to be shot in the face anyway if they see you, even if you helped them cause they won't know if you don't want to kill them too. And even if they don't see you instantly you might get shot 30 seconds later by the people you've just helped.

You are telling fairy tales sitting on a high horse trying to make yourself look better compared to everyone else. Since everyone else is playing "easy mode" according to you.

Fully agree with OP. Why? Example:

Met a guy in Zelengorsk today just now in the supermarket. He asked, "friendly? I only have 600 blood."

Easy option : shoot him in the face

Hard option : I warily reply and determine he's not going to shoot me (not yet at least), he's fainting all over the place. Might I add that whilst he was unconscious I could have taken the ultimate risk-free solution to this encounter by taking the easy option above. Instead I go out of my way to head back out into the forest so I could cook some raw meat, during the day, at risk from zombs and bandits alike. Headed back, got twatted by a zombie and gave the fella my meat and 2 cans of food to boot.

End result? Neither of us got killed in a bloodbath - I had no morphine so if my leg broke during a shoot out I would have been screwed even if I killed him. He was able to finally walk away without seeing double and I walked away with a gift of 2 stanag rounds and a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart :)

Win-win situation which can only ever result from the hard option.

I can only summarise that the only true and absolute difference between bandit and survivor is that bandits get the warm fuzzy feeling when they kill blindly. Survivors get it from helping others. It's all simply a matter of what gets your proverbial rocks off lol.

I still don't understand what's so hard about increasing your chances of getting shot. Take an axe and run around cherno if you want it to reach maximum.

If you shits in your pant by the idea of approching makaroni survivor, then just avoid them & try to get contact with unarmed people only! Who cares ?

That's a good start! :)

Anesthetic : I kill players too. The difficulty you choose depend on your gameplay style. In some situation you wanna prefer the easy way to get out of a shitty situation.

Your choice, your story. Keep cool.

Solve the Alt-F4 issue, solve the random killing ...

Alot of bandits will go back to robbing.

I don't shit my pants I just don't want to spawn on the beach. And why would I contact people? I send them a bullet and receive loot. Or I ignore them completely if I'm certain they are no threat to me. I mean why should I do that? When I want a challenge I go to stary guns blazing on a populated server.

Not to poke holes in that but... "solve the random killing" and "Alot of bandits will go back to robbing." is kinda contradictory...

You see... the bandits are the ones causing the random killing.

So it should be:

Get a lot of bandits to go back to robbing, instead of killing.

Solved the random killing.

He said that when people can't alt+f4 anymore the bandits will be robbing instead of killing. How's that contradictory?

No problem mate, you play as you want.

That's not the subject, please discuss about this on a related thread.
