Slitter 11 Posted July 21, 2012 (edited) Well, it's true that third person is not realistic, but neither is first person.First person lacks a lot of things you would have in RL like the awareness where exactly you are positioned without looking anywhere but straight,While third person shows to much behind you you wouldn't recognize usually so it's to much(just said that to counter the argument of "first person because of realism")For me, the first person view in Arma2 is kinda bad from the placing (at least it feels rather unrealistic to me), so i stick to 3rd person.All that said, it's up to the server hosters, but i can understand why more people want to play with 3rd person and so there are more 3rd person servers. If I had to stay in First Person the entire time I'd vomit.Video Games and Monitors are already limiting because they lack the ability to properly give you the human eyes capability of peripheral vision. Third Person ALMOST gets it right. Remaining in First Person constantly would get sickening because of the tunnel vision. The only way you could solve this is by having three monitors. First person is just so poorly done it's not worth using. It's not "hardcore" or veteran by any means. There's no shortage of servers with the options disabled though. People have different tastes.Its the cross hairs that really bug me.. if 3rd person view is enabled.. i simply don't use it. And regarding tunnel vision, i use TrackIr and i don't see lack of peripheral vision an issue. I don't like the idea of people looking around corners in 3rd person view.. but such is life.TBH everyone has their preference.. I'm just finding it very difficult to find servers with setting i like. If you like cross hairs and 3rd person view you have no such issues, as 99% of servers run these settings.There's no shortage of servers with the options disabled though.Well i find very few of them.
