In need of A bit of help regarding Arma II/DayZ

Recommended Posts

Hey guys/gals,

First post so don't hit me too hard if this is in the wrong section, or even forum all together haha. I just figured someone here may know of a solution or will be able to shed a little light on my issue.

Basically since I installed the DayZ mod, though it happened occasionally in vanilla A2 before this, the server browser will temporarily disconnect me from my internet when I use it. As in when I go to log into a server, hop into the browser, if I'm not in a server within 5 seconds I lag out and momentarily lose network connection for about 2 minutes. Now this problem only happens with ArmaII/DayZ browsers. I've consistently had this issue every single time I use ArmaII browser, Six Launcher and DayZ Commander. I figured at first it may be a firewall issue, but my allowances are set appropriately, or at least I'm 90% sure they are. I then thought it could of been a series of bandwidth leak issues with the browsers meaning my internet connection is not able to tolerate a leak that large and shuts me out momentarily. Thus far I've been unable to locate any information on how "inefficient" the browser system is though. So I'm sort of at a loss of a next step and am hoping someone a bit more savvy on ArmaII/DayZ issues can help out. I can still play the game fine, because I usually have a friend find a server / use one I'm familiar with, and hop on as fast as possible to get out of browser before a disconnect. But, this is not how I want to continue to do things haha. Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Hard to tell. Did you try six launcher yet ? This works great for me. The SL doesn't use the Arma server browser, you may know.

Let's see and report back.

Yeah I used Six Launcher for longer than any of the other browsers actually, and first really started noticing the issue in that. The same thing happens with DayZ Commander and the in-game browser as well. Not really sure what's up at this point. It's more of an annoyance than game breaking though.

Hmm, not easy, i like that. Seems there's no direct easy solution. I would do the following:

- Router: restart, update firmware, check Port Settings and other security settings enabled

- Update Windows

- Update NIC driver

- Disable Win FW, disable 3rd party FW

- Disable any Security Apps
