Dayz Tournament

Sometime, Rocket and Co. should host some sort of Dayz Tournament. Something like 6-8 teams of 3-4 people are all brought together and placed on a locked server at the same time. The objective being to be the last team standing or team with most player kills combined. Play period should last about 12 hours and should start at about 3pm. That way it would be a good mix of day/night play.

Prizes could be simple, free server for a year or whatever.

What do you all think?

Why not do this in regular Arma2? DayZ is not supposed to be a Team Deathmatch game, or so I've been led to believe.

The problem here is infection pose a threat early in the game but once you gear up and get some good weapons they are kind of a push over. Now while you could make the zombies even more difficult when you are at the end game stages that means early players are going to get demolished even more by zombies.

Fair point. Fantasizing about more lethal infected is silly until the stealth/sneaking system is polished and tuned to the max.

Still, the fear factor is gone, like you said, when you are all geared up. Yet there are whole military camps overrun by the infected and a group of 5-10 survivors with mixed backgrounds fend of these hordes with such ease that they think it would be fun to fight some humans with guns.

Or maybe im too serious with this mod <_<

Want team deathmatch? Play Arma. DayZ isn't about teams fighting to the death, Arma is. There are plenty of clans that organize PvP join one of those.

The idea is good. Don't knock it. It just needs refining.

People should be able to sign up on their own or in teams.

Points should be scored for the numbers of items collected. Number of Zombies killed.

e.g

Secure a fully operational vehicle = 50 points.

Obtain a Coyote backpack = 10 points

1 zombie kill = 1 point

It would be great if a tournament version of the mission could be built by Rocket with triggers that add points to a player when an area is held for over 5 minutes similar to CTI maps in Arma2.

It would also be great to have a few spectator roles added for a livestream of the event.

Other considerations:

Unlimited respawns?

Points lost for a death?

Gain points for tranfusing?

Spawn in 5-10 minute intervals?

Negative points for killing players but if they are carrying gear worth 100 points and the penalty is only 50 points then it's surely worth it?
