Zombie bait or different detection ranges

Recommended Posts

Im really into stealth type of games and I know there is already lots of stealth involved, but what about making the zombies less lock on the first sight / sound and give players some tools or ways how to lure the zombies away from somewhere they need to enter other than making them see the player and then running like hell somewhere far away and shooting them.

I know you can already do that with flares or any light source during night, but what about day time? What about luring them away without making other players aware of your presence? I would suggest some kind of noise machine or some feromone bait or something like that.

The other way around this would be to implement more complex detection of players for the zombie AI. Right now, they just run at you when they spot you, but what about making them just slowly move towards the player until the player is close enough for their rotting eyes to see him clearly and only then let them run at him? And the same with their hearing. That would give the players some space to toy around with zombies and make the whole stealth part of the game much deeper ...

So what about that?
