Question: I heard somewhere that it's possible to get the demo of Arma II (Arma II Free IIRC) + Operation Arrowhead (12 euro) and still be able to play Day Z instead of having to buy Combined Ops (20 euro). Is this true? Are there any downsides?

Arma II Free vs paid? Help needed asap

just buy arma 2 combined ops and support bohemia interactive without arma 2 there would be no DayZ

but to answer your question i dont think its possible

Just buy OA, it's discounted and you will get full res textures. You can do it with F2P arma iirc but its a bit more complicated.
