"I can't see a dam thing" *walks into a wall

Recommended Posts

I've seen several posts suggesting changing the day/night cycle time, however once at night i tried changing the video settings and ended up boosting the gamma producing sort of a stark black and white effect, sorta like this:

delbert_02.jpg

I could still barely see but i found the game surprisingly playable. The problem isnt the fact that it is nighttime but the fact that we cant see at night. Maybe if the overall light level was boosted a tiiiny bit we wouldnt be complaining about it.

having that black and white effect would also be kinda cool. In fact I think I would prefer it soooo maybe this want really a suggestion at all ? Now im confused

everyone likes the black and white effect and its mostly due to the server and how its set up i went on one server where it was pitch black and then another where the gamma thing worked so it depends on the setup :D

It is an issue, tbh I resorted to the max brightness+gamma simply because playing legit at night with flashlights/flairs is next to

impossible.

and who cant hold a pistol and a flashlight? and why do I have to throw my means of defence on the floor to see what's going on.

let us,

hold a pistol and flshlight, while being able to aim the flashlight while at a jog

or make nvgs a whole lot more common and bring them in line with other equipment that everybody has to have to survive.

maybe we could have to find batteries for them, more reason for geared up players to venture into towns and another consumable for us to horde.

actually that's a great idea lets do that.

It's not the setup of the server, it's the freaking moon on it.

Moonlight in this game is far different than real life, but a full moon will light up the night (making it seem pre-sunrise morning) and with no moon it is pitch black, one shade of color, complete darkness.

Starlight doesn't matter to this game, it doesn't provide light, just an overhead bunch of white dots.

Have fun, next time use the search feature on the forums. Thanks.

Forgot to mention: G17, M4A3 both have flashlights, as well as the 870 shotgun. Chemlights light up the ground out to about 10 feet (3 meters) depending on the color, and they don't give away your position after around 50 meters.

Last thing, few people actually have NVGs, Usually they are owned by clans and server hopping looters. The first group stay in the woods and protect camps while looting military tents or the NWAF. The latter are either found running in either barracks at the NWAF, or camping a hill near Cherno or Electro. Stay safe out there.

EDIT: Try jogging and using both a pistol and flashlight. Your chances of hitting a stationary target are low, and good luck hitting something that is moving, or taking sporadic cover.

They really should lock brightness and gamma, because boosting both to see at night is cheating. Plus it's so much fun to have a flash light shiny, you hear a growl turn and see a zed a foot away from you just staring you down. Gives it a great scary facter because it forces you to use your hearing a lot which makes it really interesting.

Also i think that trick should get you kicked from a server.

but then it gets boring cause you cant do anything, and at night IRL you can still see a decent amount not fuck all :D

Depends on the person, some people like me can see way above average at night, and others have very poor natural night vision. But right now they seem to be on track to getting eye adjustment, they just need to figure out how well that average person can see at night i'm guessing so they have a base value.

True but i think its actually Bohemia's side of Arma cause Arma is the Day/Night Cycle Part not DayZ

Locking brightness might help, but some people will just up their monitor brightness instead.

The only way to blance things out a little would be adding new game mechanics, F.e. having a very low chance to hit a target that is hidden in darkness.

the Monitor Brightness wont actually make much different it would just look whiter not nessesarily be able to see better

Shouldn't be that hard, honestly, as your other arm gives you support enough to keep your handgun steady.
