Also, any idea why this thread was unpinned or better still how we can get it repinned?

My suggestions are:

add more furniture inside the houses;

modify the appearance of the buildings leaving them with more appearance of apocalypse;

add a physical good car, like rolling over to spend on potholes, skidding on the grass, etc..;

add new appearances for zombies;

create more buildings to enter;

create local and underground places as it has on some maps for the mod;

create animals;

and modern buildings.

if this game has it all I want, no doubt I will buy and recommend

I would like to recommend this thread I had created which brings up new ideas regarding to Hunting/Fishing and new equipment that relates to it as a suggestion. I believe this would be great to expand the survival and adapting to the environments with the capabilities to being able to use the right tools for the right job.

Edit: Reason why I posted this link was because I don't want to explain my ideas when you can take a read on it instead since this topic is a brainstorming one. :beans:

Cause its too much work to put them all on photobucket, resize them and link them here, and besides I actually started doing it this way and realized there's a cap on how many pictures you can use in a post.

If you want to find them all, put them in a grid in a single picture and label it with the weapon names, be my guest :)

You mentioned that you could defib a flat lined heart. You do realize that defibrillating a flat lined heart is point less. Defibrillators are used to get the heart beating back in a rhythmic pattern from when they are beating irregularly in a disorganized manner.

Why don't you hyperlink the gun names to a picture of them

All buildings should be enterable BUT some might be locked... The only way to get in is to shot the door lock. Doing this will attract zombies and players. Also we should be able to see trough the windows so we can judge if it worth taking the shot or not

I'm afraid I don't really have the time but I'll put the code up if anyone wants to do it themselves.

I have some suggestions for camping, and the use of fire in DayZ.

—————

CAMPS/CAMPING

1. For starters, there should be a wider variety of tents available. In real life, there is a plethora of different tents available, not just military 'hutchies' as they are called here in Australia.

2. Tent storage should be redone completely. It is highly unlikely you would be able to store up to 10 weapons of varied sizes, 50 pieces of survival gear such as medicals and food, and 5 backpacks in a single military tent. In a real 'hutchie' there is enough room for yourself and two backpacks and webbing at best. Obviously if my first point is implemented, then storage would vary.

3. Give different tents different (subtle) advantages and disadvantages. For example. A military tent, would have less storage space, but it is less visible due to camouflage. While a larger family camping tent, would be able to carry a larger amount of items, with the cost of being seen, due to a brighter colour.

CAMP FEATURES AND USES

1. Basic trenches, or traps should be able to be engineered to combat intruders. Even the ability to build in trees, to make lookouts and over watches.

2. Tents should have an option where a player can actually sleep in real time, to accelerate recovery of infections, blood loss and injuries. Players should be able to killed while in this state. Also, vision should be blurred, so you cannot look around for intruders too easily. However, in this state, you get enhanced hearing, since you have cut back one sense, enhancing all others.

FIRE/COOKING

1. You should be able to know roughly how old a firepit is, by looking at the coals. If a fire has just been put out. It should continue to smoke or steam, for a few minutes. Then, after smoking for a bit, it should turn to just smouldering coals, getting less red hot as time goes on.

2. Fires should be able to be put out with water, otherwise, it will continue to smoke until the coal burn out. If put out with your water bottle, it will just steam for a few minutes, and then go cold, limiting the timeframe where someone could pass by.

3. Cooking meat should take longer, it shouldn't be like half an hour or anything, but longer. Possibly 30 seconds to maybe 2 minutes?

4. A camping stove should be able to be used instead of a fire, which used petrol instead of wood. It would have less light emitting, reducing chances of being spotted from afar, while cooking meat quicker.

(Sorry for long read and unedited post, but I just wanted to get out my ideas as soon as possible!)

use some ideas that come with other dayz-derivatives:

- surviveZ or dayZ2017 come with far less quantities of consumable/directly usable loot of all kind --> ppl use everything they get and really appreciate for example a crowbar or a bottle of water.

But it has a slight motivation kill: Sometimes (and that can be long) you don't find anything, not even non-useables, so why not adding amounts of random loot, not really usable in a way and moreover unique loot: hats (ok maybe they would be usable), a good bottle of wine, a dirty old but undamaged sixpack, teddy bears, an old edition of Tolstoi's War and Peace. A can of vac-packed instant coffee. You get my idea. Some ordinary things you would most likely find in buildings.

It would be nice to see, what stories would come up in forums, what ppl had to go through not to lose their treasures...

- dayZ+ has a basic crafting system (which will be also implemented in the SA, at least i thought so), where you combine scrap metal and wood and therefore get a deer stand, hence introduce this as it would make sense in a way: duct tape and zip ties!

Too much threads about vehicule suggestions, i'll post that here. :)

Recently, our admins had an experiment with the Taviana server i'm playing on : we had almost twice vehicles as usual after a restart, and we waited until the next restart to drive around the map. The results were quite satisfying, and added a lot more apocalyptical feeling than expected : in the beginning, everyone were driving something, derping around in big cities, trying to kill running players, etc... that was a total mess. But it turned out that a lot of players crashed their cars in trees or buildings because of their excitement.

And when you drive around with your clan and see that kind of scene, that's much more interesting than already spawned wrecks, because you actually know that someone was around at some time, and may still be stalking for curious/careless players. (effect++ when the engine is still running)

The point of this post is that I entirely support the idea of much more vehicles, but with less more fuel ressources (and limited fuel at gas stations), because it adds a lot more of this apocalypical, recent end of the world feel.

Think all the vehicle wrecks you see should be drivable so long as you can fix them up and find fuel. In other words, I agree :)

Also vehicles will be far more balanced if, as has been suggested will be the case, all the zombies on the map are already spawned.

I know some were already mentioned:

atmospheric sceneries (which are just reappearing singularities)

- in general more scenes of despair

() hung people in houses or on trees.

() dead bodies strapped to heavy objects

() a dead couple in their car in their garage ;)

() children would be possible to include here, as they "would just serve as props" (wow that sounds actually horrible :()

- random burial sites on clearings or in woods. (signs of humanity)

- several bus stops on the roads. (ppl travel a lot in some of "these" countries by bus)

- scarecrows

- rotting wildlife/bodies spawning and eventually fading out

- partially destroyed power lines.

- wells near modest settlements

- a patch of sunflowers growing wildly

atmosperhic scenes (which are on a larger scale)

- mass graves with body bags

- creepy playgrounds / graveyards

- kindergardens

- abandoned local stadiums/fairs/theatres/cinemas/stripclubs/bars/public swimming pools

- WWII also took place: old bunkers e.g.

- sawmills and quarries

- breweries (come on BOHEMIA without beer, you kiddin'?!) & distilleries

diverse map areas

- rivers/ lakes/ runlets

- swampy river deltas / quagmires with mists and nice sounds of toads/frogs

- how about a completely burned down villages?

- fields of poppies w sounds of crickets!!

- ultra dense forests!

please try to use all the best already existing features from all yet released maps!!

for now...that's all i can think of.

All buildings should be enterable BUT some might be locked... The only way to get in is to shot the door lock. Doing this will attract zombies and players. Also we should be able to see trough the windows so we can judge if it worth taking the shot or not

You might be able to open the lock with a crowbar, or lock pick it. You may also choose to lock a door in case you don't want other people coming in while your looting (if you have a lock which may be rare). People will be able to climb through windows by smashing them though (this will make a loud noise).

ALSO, I think this IGN zombie apocalypse ideal is pretty good, it points out what DayZ should have and can have. (although some of this won't work since DayZ is a multiplayer game).

We want to support the organic development and operation of groups within the game, through the development of their own symbology in game (tattoo’s, markings on the world, on weapons, etc…). We feel that these redeveloped social experiences told through the game will be a compelling part of the standalone

http://dayzdev.tumblr.com/post/41444643504/this-is-the-first-update-when-i-have-sat-down-and

so they support ways to create gangs or something like this so sooner or later there will be base or something simmilar

- creepy playgrounds / graveyards

- kindergartens

Agree with these, if we can't have children zombies let us have some proof that kids once actually existed,

Since we are thinking in outside-ArmA2 limitations, why not add a new 7.62mm sniper rifle?

I'm talking about the "HK G3 DMR", sniper version of the G3.

Able to hit targets up to 1100 meters, featuring a x3 and a x12 scope-option and a 20 round mag. it's semi auto. it has probably a higher recoil than the DMR. it's firing a 7.62x51mm cartridge (same as the FN FAL, the M14 AIM and the DMR). therefore it should deal around 8,000 blood damage. the "normal" G3 weights 4.38kg unloaded, due to the rather big scope the G3 DMR should be around 5kg weight unloaded, making it slightly heavier than the M14 AIM / DMR.

also, since the G3 has been developed in 1950, and produced since 1958 up until today, it makes more sense being found in-game than the modern G36 versions. not to mention the fact that countries like Iran produce the G3 in unknown numbers and export them, it is actually quite possible (as background story) the G3 has been delivered to the rebels in Chernarus aswell.

Also i was thinking about adding the GOL Sniper Magnum. Also features a 7.62x51mm Cartridge, weights 6kg and features a 5-round-magazine. It's a bolt-action rifle and the producer (German Gol-Matic GmbH) claims that the gun is incredibly accurate up to 1500m. it is also able to fire .300 Winchester Magnum Ammunition (Lee Enfield ammo) and .338 Lapua Magnum Ammo (L115A2 / A3 ammo). Therefore i suggest the weapon itself is very, very rare, as you can find ammunition for it anywhere (Lee Enfield ammo compatible ftw!)

by watching dayz' mythbusters:

- please use the revealed logical issues by dayz

and try to prevent them from being in the SA.

- please let zombies be able to jump over every fence and/or wall a player also can and maybe a possibility to jump over tents as well?
