The Wandering Mob

While having a fun game of day z I threw out an idea that was just for laughs however it didn't quite stay that way for long. As the idea came more and more interesting to us we started debating each side of coin and narrowed it down to a more specific concept. As in all zombie games and zombie movies you have hordes of mindless brain eating zombies who tend to group together and move in groups - though in this case we aren't talking a bunch of small groups but a single large random moving one of lets say oh 100-300 zombies? I'm betting that most of you guys are wondering where the hell I'm going with a bunch of 100-300 zombies and how ridiculously hard that would be to handle but that's exactly the point. For the better part of this game you spend 90% of the time you spend worrying about the bandits and 10% about the zombies. This single wandering group can be either two sides of the coin: 1. I want the epic gear that drops off them, 2: Holy shit wrong place at the wrong time. Now technically speaking zombies only spawn when people are near their spawn zones, so for this single horde its basically a randomized travel agenda based on time of day so if someone crosses their current location then it spawns them out. Though this idea is still rather rough It would be a very amusing concept that might throw another bone into game play encouraging more teamwork!

I like the idea. Make them travel between cities through woods so nowhere is really safe :-)

There are some Z's that seem to be walking down a country road for no reason, the spawn at one end and just walk in one direction. It's really strange, not sure what causes it.

Were thinking about something similar, but not spawning per se, rather a huge group wandering perhaps along main road from NW Airfield down and through cherno, along coast, through Electro and despawns at northern last player spawnpoint or walk back to nw airfield through woods, clearing any cars, tents.... Player :)

Maybe also having super senses they had in... Eh.. well.. When los was based on eyes, (360' los)

and maybe if aggroed, the revert to the old zeds that hunts you til you starve to death, or enter a building (unshakeable).

if your gonan do this kind of thing theres only 1 place on map the can originate from 'green mountain'
