Is it weird that I have played DayZ for about 60-80 hours now and i have never found a map or a compass yet? Any ideas?

i have been in apts. and when i find other players i either die from snipe, or they dont have anything and i let them be.

Supermarkets. I've never gone into one that didn't have some essential item lying around. Killing players is a crappy strategy, imo.

I have found maps inside the groceries and firestation on base... have not found a compass yet though. I'd rather have a gps at this point :)

I don't enjoy relying on other people to get what I need, is all. I find I'm a bit more effective at getting things myself.

Between the Church, the Firestation and the Supermarket, you can pretty much get everything you need.

thanks for the ideas everyone. im really just wanting a compass, since i play windowed fullscreen mode and can look at a map whenever.

Yellow and red buildings, i found them there in most cases. Supermarkets second.
