empty server = less loot

Recommended Posts

dont know if this was pointed by another person.

the suggestion is simple. spawn less loot on empty server and more on filled server.

this would make it harder for server-loot-hopping and prevent player to only play on empty server to get cool weapons and so on.

currently you can get better loot on empty server, because there is less competition.

good point, not sure if this was suggested yet. i agree, this would make things harder for the hoppers. i've heard of people going into supermarkets and hopping around 20-30 servers until they had all the crap they wanted... kinda sucks...

The irony is empty servers are actually far more dangerous for server-hoppers.

Why?

Because those are the servers that server-hoppers choose and they end up killing each other.

Zed, that's definitely true, but this is one idea i actually really agree with. Perhaps set a drop quality threshold until 10 or more players are in game or something. Not so high that its ridiculous, but high enough to where people can't farm empty servers.

As long as zombies are spawning and guarding the loot, and players could run up or log in and catch you at any moment, then there is no need to alter the loot tables as it seems that looting is functioning as intended. You can choose to play on whatever server you want, some people prefer a more desolate and empty game, some want constant action (Full 80 man servers etc.), some like to play at night, some people just want to play with friends and don't care about the server capacity. Farming and hopping is a completely different issue that gets mixed in here.

So.. the delevoper decided to have only one character on every server, so in my opinion farming and hopping is not an different issue.

I remember it was suggested somewhere but still it's a good idea.

There is a bit less loot on empty servers.

I'm not even talking about 'less loot' perse. I think the issue should be high end loot, your L85's, your NVGs, etc. People want to farm for Lee Enfields and cans of beans? Fine.

But if you want the good stuff, you should have to hit populated servers where the risk of death is increased. It's utterly bogus that individuals are managing to hit up servers with less than 5 players and coming away completely kitted out with virtually no risk to themselves.

I don't even know if this is possible with the current engine, but it merits looking into.

Those are the servers I sit in and wait for server hoppers to choose so that I can plug their skulls and take all of their ill-gotten gains.
