How to you get fun in this game? What goals do you have?

Hey guys. Everyone knows there are no special tasks or missions for people who already have all the needed staff, cars etc

How do you entertain yourself when you have nothing to search for in the game? What goals do you have?

This is the "anti-game" aspect working against your preconceived notions of what a video game should offer you. Survive, live, kill, eat, sleep. Travel the world and try not to die - I guarantee something interesting will happen along the way. :)

....died by a hacker....

1-2 first days: this game sucks, blah, im just gonna play it for fun etc, i randomly fight at towns

2-4 days: i grab a weapon and walk around the north

4-6 days: i've farmed some decent gear and murdered whoever had something i could need

7+ days: ....died by a hacker....

Currently helping friends get into the game and to the lvl I am. Patrolling the area around the camp we have set up and ambushing bandits.

We do try and help players we come across but the amount of times we have found a person or persons in game and had to shoot them because they wouldn't listen to a warnings or tried too shoot us when we spoke to them is astounding.

Personally I set myself more achievable goals than say repairing a car. I've been playing two months now and saw my first one in game ever last night.

Anyway, some I've tried:

Kill only with a pistol.

Visit a town you've never been before and kill every zombie.

Don't pick Coke/Pepsi up ever and only survive on canteens and water sources.

Hunt snipers around Cherno / Elektro - this one is incredibly fun! You know that there will probably be snipers watching the sniping spots... lol

Find a toolbox and cut down all the barbed wire fence you can find.

Navigate without using your compass and / or an external map.

Purposefully fire your main weapon to kill zombies outdoors!

Last night I decided to stick with the hatchet for my primary and just use a revolver as backup.

I have pretty much everything I need to survive, so I just killed a couple animals for meat and ran around looting in stealth mode.

Wanna know what I realized? The hatchet is friggin' awesome! :)

I'm pretty sure it's just a hacked m1911 with a new model and reduced range/noise levels.

Its got the same damage as the 1911 and the revolver, unlimited ammo, and iit's completely silent!

I killed almost 100 zeds and with the cooked meat and bandages I had on me, I didn't even have to worry about getting hit so much.

I even came across and left behind winnies and lee enfields, even an ak47 because it really doesn't hold a candle to the hatchet.

My point is, I usually just run around with an AKM or a Kobra, but I had more fun using the hatchet last night than I have in ages, and I'm still using that loadout today! I think I'll put my good stuff in a tent and go on a murder spree in Cherno later..

Who says there's nothing fun to do in DayZ? ;)

I totally love, love, love my hatchet. I have not picked up a rifle or shotgun since it was introduced as a melee weapon. I carry a sidearm as well, but only rarely use it. Right now I have the 1911 which is nice since you can reload revolver ammo for it. I've never killed a player with, in fact in the 2 months I've been playing this I've only shot one player in self defense who was trying to Lizzie Borden my face with a hatchet, which was one of the most frightening, adrenaline pumping moments I've experienced in game.

My husband and I play together and we are just running around the woods in the North checking out small towns, killing Zs, hunting for animals. On his last days off work we found 2 heli crashes in 2 days, and checked out the NW Airfields (which was rather anti-climactic, nothing too significant there other than really pissed off Zombies). I think now we've found a decent hiding spot and are going to start looking for some kind of vehicle to put back together. This game is, quite literally, what you make of it. That's what makes it so unique.
