Enhancement Idea.

Most of the stuff here is Client side and should not effect the way game works

This post is not to ask that we put these mod in but look at how the community has made and done thing that your team may find useful. There are a large number of addons and scripts from armaholic that I think this community and its dev team will like how ever as iv said am not saying put them in now or please try them am saying could the dev team come up with there own version and take on what you find here when they get time to add new thing these list may be good for all.

Deadfast's Elapsed Time Counter

start with this as of many people asking how long has the sever been up and what sever am I on? To combat this there is Deadfast's Elapsed Time Counter that I find useful to track what time the sever been up and what sever am on. Now people can see if there sever just restarted or going to making game play more fun with out worrying is or is there not a restart about to happen. Yes I am sorry I know this is alpha and restart are a lot. But this may help players.

Description:

It seems that a script like this could be useful for some people so here is a simple sidearm holstering script that I made for an SP mission. The script remembers the sidearm's classname and leaves the magazines intact. In theory it should work in team switching and respawn missions.

There are a lot of player that ask how do they put away there hand gun as well as there riffle I feel this would benefit stand off when players meet I.e I see a guy he don’t trust me so ill put my gun away or down that may help the situation. So I think am right in saying that Celery is a Dev for dayz? If so this is his own stuff so am sure wont be an issue.

Weapon Butt Attack

Description:

This will allow u to hit nearby enemies with the back of the gun

First hit will get injured your enemy, the second hit will drop him to the ground killing him instantly.

this is for my own needs iv seen a few people that have never notice me and iv come up behind them at this time the only thing I can do is shout at them to see if there friendly or not normally end up me dead or them. How ever Id like this to be added in but in a new way instead of it killing them when it hits could you modify it in away it dose the same knock out effect the zombie do when they hit you down this would help player who come up behind players have the option to try the shout like a mad man or if they think they cant trust the bandit in front hit him in the back to knock him out to get way or even take stuff while knocked out haha fun yer. Let me know what you think to this.

This is maybe answer to people asking about the ACRE Modification I know the Dev would like us to use the in game VOIP how ever this Leeds to issue with in the game I do find that that morse code idea may be better as player have to work out other players messages for help or what ever ells u guys can come up with just might be better way to chat not sure?

Description:

The simulation of weather in this series has been lacking since forever. Actually I think the "weather engine" hasn't been touched since ofp 1.0 (ok, rainbows have been added at some point, but that's it).

Sure, we have the most basic components of weather to play with, such as overcast, fog, wind and rain. But it has always been only that; some components of weather (with some very simply constraints), but no coherent system of weather (or even seasons). But weather should be more than the sum of it's parts. And that's where the RUBE weather module steps in and tries to fill the gap (or at least illuminate and explore it a little).

Sure, there are already some weather modules/addons present. But they focus mostly on effects or worry about synchronisation in multiplayer games. None of them however solves the problem I was interested in to begin with: if weather shall be a crucial component in (strategical/tactical) decision making, then it needs to be forecastable. What weather can be expected for today and what for the next few days? Should we postpone that sniper-mission or rather strike now?

The RUBE weather module is a pseudo-scientific weather machine consisting of three main components:

A season model that defines the clima,

A weather generator which creates a forecast for n days and

A weather engine that executes todays weather.

This addon/Script is a lot to ask for but we could use it to make the game feel more real in that weather effect this would make it hard to for new player lol am evil like that.

NOW FOR THE BIG ONE THAT FEEL WE MAY WANT TO LOOK AT

AEG - ArmA Electrical Grids

The ArmA Electrical Grids (AEG) project simulates electrical power grids throughout various islands in the ArmAverse. The simulation features power plants with smokestacks that emit smoke when generating electricity. Substations or poles with transformer that emit a humming noise when energized. Street lights are turned off when power is cutoff.

SOOOO WHY DO WE NEED THIS?

This would add so much to the game E.g

[NEW] M107 TWS removed from spawning (will be achievement/side mission item)

if the team are thinking of adding achievement/side mission this may help for all this addon/script could add in the use of the power station around the map however that can be set on times and other stuff to still keep core game play I.e flares and cemlights still needed. The mission could be to get the lights on in cherno or barazeno and you get the M107 or NVGS or what ever this would not stay on as they can be set on timers and if zombie respawn power goes off. If the use of ACRE ever did get put in you power can be link to turn them on or off this would take a lot of work and time. However please let me know if you feel u like this or do not want.

yer i like it but will it work in a mod like this? am not sure. I mean most of what i have asked for is to improve game play and core fun.

I really like the Electrical Grid idea. Gotta find fuel for the power generators that power street lights and perhaps other addons.

Celery's Holster and the butt attack addons would be great addtions also.

You have my full support for most of these addon ideas, they would only enhance the experience and fix allot of issues in-game we all face.

Deadfast's Elapsed Time Counter - not really needed.

CLY Holster - a necessity! it would fix the ladder climbing issue alot of players especially newbs face that can result in broken legs. It would also be useful if your trying to not appear hostile or if you've alt-tabbed out and come back in, sometimes this makes players shoot their firearm and I can attest witness to this causing an accidental friendly-fire incident.

Weapon Butt Attack - this is self explanatory, if your trying to be stealthy the last thing you want to do is shoot that 1 zombie that spotted you in town, giving us the option to punch his brainz in with two hits silently would help allot, or if your out of ammo and can't defend yourself. And as you pointed out in-case you just wanna knock a player out stealthily.

CLY Morse - Sorry but no, radios make more sense ACRE would still be better option. I don't want to learn morse code and need to decipher a message saying 'who is that by the bush'.

RUBE Weather Module - yes, I would love to see it rain or fog to roll in and make it harder to see, some immersion to improve the atmosphere instead of clear skies and sunny weather every day.

AEG - ArmA Electrical Grids - this toes into my threat 'let there be light!' where I stated as the post above me has, fill up a jerry can and put that in a generator and the nearby grid will light up, not the whole map just the nearby area for I dunno, one hour? two hours per can? encouraging players to cooperate to get the lights on and gas it up at the power station.

If the Staff don't take serious consideration into adding these mods I encourage we stomp our feets, cross our arms put on our angry faces and glare! GLARE till they feel uncomfortable by your presence and squirm...squirm into submission or closing a blind on their window.

Thank to all who have posted yes like i said i dont think we need all of these or if we need them at all just idea to make the game more fun as for all the CLY stuff its by Celery who is a dev on the Dayz team. and for the AEG - ArmA Electrical Grids am not sure how we get it in or use but will add good side missions.

I've seen so many times players asking, how to holster their weapons in Cherno/Elektro so they won't be seen as an imminent threat to the party holding that city as a base.

Weapon butt attack? I love it! Too many times i've been in a situation too close to a zombie next to a house i wanted to check, but couldn't get thru because i did not have an way to take him out without making a sound. What would make it even better? Instant but silent takedown with a combat knife.

Maybe abit off-topic, but the weather plugin thingy brought in to my mind; Is it possible to lock players client side brightness/contrast settings to the default? I've seen many players teach others to set them to max, so they can see better in the dark..

Electrical Grid idea sounds great too, can't see anything wrong with it really.

Helps alot of groups holding towns guard their territories better, and makes it harder to sneak in as a bandit. I like it, alot.

Great ideas overall.
