How long do bodies stay?

I was by the NE airfield, and I found a body in some bushes. How long do player bodies stay on the map? I didn't hear any gunshots, so I don't think he died while I was there.

Also, he has some really good stuff, so I doubt anyone looted him. Sniper maybe?

For my own experience, around 1 hour or 30 minutes.

I have seen a body of a woman whom I killed still hanging around after 18-20 hours! :o

I killed someone today(couldn't be reasoned with) and as I was looting his body it just dissapeared. All I got off of him was his M4A1; by the time I could click anything else it vanished and removed me from the gear menu.

it depends if the person disconnects i believe...... i think if they disconnects it makes it sink into the ground and no loot for you.. if they respawn then prob a hour or so

I've found my own body many hours later

it seems to be awhile if you don't log out. my question is: if I get killed, decide I don't wanna play anymore, and log out legit (not alt-f4), does my body disappear?

I checked the player list and didn't see him in there so I don't think that's it, maybe though.

To be honest, the body despawning feels like it's either based on a total number of bodies on the map/server then it does a wipe, or it removes bodies at certain timed intervals, such as every 2 hours or whatever.

I've seen bodies last for a long time, and I've seen them vanish almost immediately after someone was killed.

Also, if a friend is killed and is running back to reclaim gear, the best thing you can do is empty their inventory and place it on the ground. Items on ground (in my experience) seems to last significantly longer than bodies. Meaning there is less risk of losing items due to despawn if they are on ground as opposed to on the body itself.
