DayZ requires both Arma's

I was wondering how does it work tho.

Arma II Operation Arrowhead is a stand alone game, it doesn't require Arma II. DayZ gets installed in Arma II OA folder. So at what point does the mod uses original Arma II?

ARMA 2 needs to run other files such as the map you play on.

Chernarus is an ArmA 2 map, not an ArmA2 OA map.

You need several files from Arma 2.

you can get arma 2 FREE + OA , less quality but it works
