Fix zeds indoors

Recommended Posts

The title speaks for itself really.

Numerous times I've seen players run through a city luring a lot of zeds.

They'll just enter a building where the zeds start walking all of a sudden.

This way the players can shoot the zombies or just exit the building losing their aggro.

I would love to see this fixed, because players have to be a lot more careful when entering a city.

really mann, they don't need sorting Rocket made them walk indoors for a reason, mainly so players can lose them otherwise when you dont have any equipment at the start your screwed cause you dont have time to pick something up in a building to kill a zed or people use it to lose the zeds, there is no other way.

Didn't he make the zeds run indoors and then the forum threw their toys out the basket till he made them walk again?

originally they walked, then made them run, which then caused the forums to cry until he changed it back, but tbh i like it when they walk cause its like The Last Stand Flash Game Kinda Thing, and also the buildings are too small if they are running you wouldnt have a chance :)

They take away our global chat, they take away our starting guns, now they want to take away our in-door navigation advantage?

Have you tried spawning recently? If you aggo a zed you don't have any options BESIDES running in a building. And if its Elektro then chances are everything is wired up tight anyway.

Be more carefull! I've entered cities without attracting a single zombie.

When I watch my back and make sure no zombies are nearby you can easily enter a city.

It would take some time, that's true, but it is possible.

When I take such good care into entering a village or city it just frustrates me that a player runs through and loots everything.

i know this game is about survival but being over cautious would take the fun out of it, just slowly walking through a big city like Cherno would be pointless, just lets stop complaining how the game works atm and work on stuff the game is missing.

it also helps the AI pathing i am sure, in those tight corridors. when they run, now you have a new pathing bug.

Then why don't you run through and loot everything? There's a fine balance between being cautious and just being slow. Not to mention crawling every where in Cherno just makes you sniper fodder.

Agreed, zombies bug out, outside of buildings when running, imagine what they would be like inside.

Also Not being funny but i think we should focus on stuff to help Rocket not complain about the stuff he already has done. :)

also it makes it more immense when they are walking cause if your in a apartment building and theres 10 zeds and you only have enough bullets to kills 4 then you keep running up the stairs until your on the roof and then zombies are slowly coming to you, what do u decide, jump and fall to your dead or let the zombies kill you :)

This scenario only pertains to novice players. Experienced players do not enter 1-exit buildings with zombies chasing them.

I would very much like to see a solution to the ease with which zombies can be lost by running through a building. Making them run indoors would be one option, but it also requires fixes to zombie pathing/glitching through walls when running. Another option would be to make zombies surround buildings that have been entered by an aggroed player, though this would likely require either improved zombie AI, or more zombie spawns, and each of these have their own technical troubles.

It is also important to note that entering a building is NOT the only way to lose zombies. Zombie line-of-sight is easily broken by other methods, such as turning quickly around several corners, running through a cluster of bushes, or running up a steep hill/into a forest.

I don't think zombies should run at all. It's ridiculous if you alert them without a weapon, they are almost impossible to lose.

The whole point of the game is to get into places, so that should be the hard part. The zombies should be harder to kill, but getting away from them should be fairly easy.

Think about it from a core game perspective: The zombies are effectively guarding the good loot, so they should have pretty good awareness and be quite strong, but there's no reason for them to be fast as that would take them away from their "guard post".

The big cities and towns should be very hard to get into undetected.

Hello again,I have been against the slowing down of zeds from day one. That scream and the resulting sprint at you at full speed makes the zeds feel dangerous. But then just now it dawned on me that maybe a better game would come from slowing the zeds down to very slightly slower than players and allowing them full speeds thru buildings.Right now I sprint thru towns gathering zeds and then run to a 2 exit bldg.I then sprint to where I want and then back to 2 exit bldg before final escape back to safety of forests. That sucks for many reasons.:(

So what difference would this bring is that now you are slightly faster and so must dodge in and out of buildings, thru alleyways etc until you feel you have enough distance to then go slow crouch/prone.With stamina this is even better as you kinda have a timer where you better lose them or they start catching up to you.Could make it so that entering towns has players dropping their packs in outskirts to be able to run around in villages if need be.

A big question remains here though and that is if allowing zeds full speed thru bldg's is even possible.Anyone from dev team can answer this....plz.;)
