So can day/night cycle change or what?

Recommended Posts

Is it confirmed that the day/night cycle is limited to a real time cycle by the Arma engine? This game desperately needs a shorter day/night cycle (4-6 hour intervals IMO)...it is honestly the most major factor holding it back. Of course before that happens the night time lighting would need to seriously be brightened so that playing at night is actually POSSIBLE without NVGs and fun. It would also give those NVGs and NV scoped guns a purpose.

For example I log into the server I always play on tonight and guess what...night time...for the next 10 hours. And NOBODY is on it because of this. I joined the server because it was a US server and during the weekends when I can play in the morning and evening I have a blast, but playing on the weekdays after work is nearly impossible because of this day night cycle.

TLDR;

Night time NEEDS to be brightened up and made playable for players without NVGs, and also the day/night cycle needs to be shortened for gameplay reasons.

I honestly wouldn't care so much if I could actually use a flashlight AND pistol at the same time.. but because I can't - it tends to make night time fairly.. unbearable.

There are many ways to see at night, flashlights, military flashlights, chemlights and flairs. There are even weapons with built in flashlights. You can also fiddle around with the video settings and turn the HDR settings to very high as well as messing around with your gamma and brightness settings. I'm not a fan of messing with the gamma and brightness but it's not for me to tell you what to do with your video settings. You can also wait for the moon to pop up, that'll lighten things up a bit making it much easier to see at night, unless you're in the middle of a forest.

I don't have a set of NVG's and while I do have a weapon with a NVG scope, I prefer to stick with my silenced weapons when I go out at night, I honestly prefer playing during the night time hours mostly because I'm somewhat nocturnal but also because there are much less players lurking about to ruin your looting sessions.

You should try playing on a full nighttime server. Completely different experience. I had one guy throwing chemlights around cherno and you get twichy over the slightest change in graphics

G17. M4A3. Remington 870.

Yeah I know they exist, but I still would like to use my choice of firearm in one hand with a military flashlight in the other.

Have you ever really held a flashlight and attempted to fire off a sidearm like a pistol?

Its not exactly... Ideal.

I think a nice solution to this is to be able to attach your military flashlight to your shirt or belt. IMO.
